As we've seen in the US, the old "they don't mean me" fallacy is strong.

On that topic, Canada First (our own brand of fascists) held a much publicised march at Christie Pits this afternoon, a park in Toronto where famously in 1933 immigrant communities banded together and kicked the shit out of a bunch of Nazis. Apparently a few hundred turned up and were met by literally thousands of anti-fascist protesters, sounds like it has all been very peaceful but we'll see what happens tonight. Funny that probably Canada's most high profile left wing / anti fascist punk band is playing a big show in Toronto the same night, I imagine the police will ensure that the Maple MAGAs are kept well away from that.

But the logical hole does exist? He wants to stop the millions of migrants that have come on small boats when there aren't millions of migrants coming on small boats.

Sure, that's the correct argument. The fact that there are minorities marching with him isn't.

I'm confused, the bloke on the news and the people I saw on the tube were separate points . Guess I should have done them in separate posts to make this clearer.

My points were

1. People have fallen for the narrative that millions have arrived on small boats and that is causing all the counties issues.

2. Other people believe 'its not me' they are marching against.

Oh I see, my apologies. I didn't read properly and conflated the two.

I would have thought Elon Musk calling for violence in our streets and an overthrow of the UK government would be a bigger diplomatic incident. The media have barely mentioned this deliberate incitement and interference in our country by a foreign national.

A foreign national with significant business interests in this country, no less.

They were also holding placards in tribute to Charlie Kirk. (Someone most of them hadn’t heard of until this week).

And that they were being silenced like he was (as they were openly being allowed to make their voice heard).

There's a tendency in the political centre to discuss how Kirk debated, rather than what he debated. Presumably because "polite" is more appealing than "bigot".

Who needs the U.N. Anyway….
