I see that the BBC, is in the BBC news.
Presumably not proactively enough to stop these things happening.
"'ow's about that then?"

A few defamation threats flying around on the Tw@tter as some BBC big hitters react to halfwits having a bash at naming the person in question. Problem with publishing your thoughts on a public platform, especially if they're occasionally controversial, is that you really need a working understanding of the libel laws.
I'm glad BWs misty eyed tales of newsrooms of old have made it to the new board. I'm not 100% sure they hark back to a period that ever existed (See also: Ingo, Farming) but I like it when someone cares about an industry that matters and pushes back, no matter how futile, against it's engineered decline. Like the miners. It's much more heart-warming to see than a load of train drivers briefly interrupting their Greek holiday to fuck up the FA cup final. Those fat arsed shysters are about the only people who could learn something from Scargil.
Is that what happened though? Depends what ‘content’ you mean, of course, but I don’t think the journalistic content was paying the bills long before the internet arrived. What the internet did was disaggregate real estate listings, job listings, car sales and other classifieds. I’m pretty sure that was the only valuable content most local papers had left.. and they never really owned or controlled it.. it was basically rent, cos they had a pretty cosy distribution platform.
Seeing the early internet and thinking ‘I’m going to sell my paper now because this thing might fuck my commercials’ was a very smart call (if that was Mr EePoo’s thinking). Even with total hindsight, I don’t see how local mastheads could have survived and thrived as independent entities and/or commercially viable news organisations.
Given that balanced reporting (local as well as national) is a key foundation to democracy (in terms of information dissemination, scrutiny, and accountability), and newspapers don't work, is there a case for a publicly funded organisation to provide that accountability for the public(society as a whole)?
Like the BBC was, until the tories broke it and corrupted it, in order to thwart real democracy and scrutiny?
Even now, the rest of the world has a disappointingly inflated opinion of the beeb. It used to be so good.
It absolutely was. I would fear for any country, that apparently was very proud of itself, that would let a bunch of proven liars destroy such a thing, so that they can avoid it's scrutiny.
I'm terrified that it's my country.
I see that Theresa May, a former conservative prime minister lest you forget, has warned that government legislation will consign more people to slavery.
Well duh. Pay attention. They are aiming for around 60 million of us.
Nearly there.
Are you 1 of the 1 in 6 or are you waiting for it to be on News at 10?
I am not (one of the one in six). But I want to be!
What a grubby little mess this is for all concerned.
What do you expect. He's Welsh....
I mean just look at Dave M and the girl behind the couch story... or whatever the fuck that was. Deviants the lot of them.
In other news, has The Ukraine won yet?
Chicago: Probably apologising to Steve Cooper tomorrow...
Apparently the BBC have had the truly odious* Rod Liddle on Newsnight to talk about it / represent News UK.
Presumably he also has an insightful perspective because he wrote this in the Spectator in 2012?
And also by the aforementioned Liddle ( www.theguardian.com/society/2003/jan/14/childprotection.rodliddle ): Should it really be a crime to look at child pornography?
Perhaps it's worth noting that civilised societies, to be proud of, don't promote and celebrate the opinions of vile scumbags.
The BBC has been intentionally destroyed, because it was of real value to society. If we take that, like we took all the other things, we will end up with nothing of value left.
If you don't think that's reflective of your British values, think about who is doing it, and why. And try to stop them. Don't just pretend to yourself that it's normal. Whatever their nudge units try to persuade you.
Don't get preoccupied stamping out all the little fires. Turn your attention on those with the petrol, and the matches. They are the ones stealing all your, and your families, stuff (rights, opportunity, prosperity, social infrastructure and capital ).
Welcome to America!
Chicago: One step ahead of you.
I won't take offence.. because he's a Taff (South Walian) and us Gogs (North Walian) like to be mean about them too.
