I see that some people are getting exercised about Gareth Southgate getting a knighthood. The honour is the
Queen'sKing's to give. Nothing to do with the likes of you or me. Whether it's for helping carry suitcases full of cash back from Saudi, turning the capital into Londongrad, or to keep someone with dirt on a former prime minister inside the tent pissing out, is none of the business of us ordinary citizens. I generally err towards the side of wanting relatively free rein for technology and placing the responsibility upon users to determine their own interactions with it, and having little sympathy with those who throw themselves headlong into shiny new toys and come unstuck, but this is quite fucked.
