Sam Coates live on Sky asked Galloway about reports of threats and intimidation during his campaign. Obviously he gets aggressive and his supporters start shouting and intimidating the reporter.

    Troubling times.

Being reported that Hunt is going to take another 2p off NI in the budget tomorrow. Because doing that last month really boosted their popularity.

It's their only option to try to win back some support (and a very common Tory tactic before a general election, if they're not going to war). A significant bump and we could see an election sooner rather than later.
But where is the money coming from? Looks like the NHS, which won't go down well.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 12:15 p.m.

    Totally pointless.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 12:17 p.m.

lolz. A significant bump would mean .... what? Only being 20 points behind Labour. They're fucked. IMHO they're just eeking out as much money from their jobs and contacts as they can now. Well. Forever. But certainly now. I guess they are hoping there is some miracle that gives them a boost and labour a hammering. Starmer caught calling someone the 'n' word perhaps (though that might play well with some). Total zombie government.

And presumably not off the dividend tax. So now small limited companies will be paying more tax than sole traders and probably employees too.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 1 p.m.

More likely it's a poison pill for the coming Labour government who will have no choice but to undo the various cuts made by the Tories in order to pay for the public services that they're currently underfunding, thus giving the Tories some easy talking points in opposition about typical tax and spend lefties.

...I'll never understand the apparent seductiveness of this argument to some people. If I give someone part of my money to use for societies greater good, I'm hoping that they use it to provision services, protect the vulnerable, and improve our infrastructure. I am hoping that they don't use it to fund bonuses for private company shareholders, for them to then pollute our country and water.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 2:49 p.m.

But the money you pay in tax is not going to protect the vulnerable, and definitely not to line the richest pockets? It used to go to teenage single mums, then it went to spongers and scroungers, but now it's going to forrin terrorists/rapists/paedos who've invaded our Sovereign land via dinghy and get given a four-bedroom house, well-paid job and cash lump sum as soon as they land on Great British beaches. Get with the programme.

Facebook and Instagram have crashed. What with it being Super Tuesday in the US I expect conspiracy theorists are going to have a field day.

Tuned in for the budget, looking forward to how Hunt deliveries Liz Truss's budget without anyone noticing it's Liz's budget.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 1:37 p.m.

Hilariously builds up to what sounded like combining NI and income tax into a single tax and then just cuts NI by 2p.

  • 7 Mar 2024, 7:37 a.m.

Seems like they are intending to go into the general election pledging to use fiscal drag on tax to phase out NI (although probably not spelling out the tax bit). Given the demographic of their voters disproportionately pay tax but not NI, that seems a bold move.

The whole Kate conspiracy thing is at least a good distraction from Forest.

The fake photo, what are they hiding?!
