Did Liz Truss really start or join a group called the Popular Conservatives? That's like me starting a club called the Tall Hobbits.

Bold move for any ambitious tory to align themselves with the Truss faction.

What you have to remember is that these people provide essentially none of the thinking behind what they are doing. If they spouted their nonsense in order to gain a groundswell of support, in the light of truly objective media scrutiny, they would attract no more serious attention than an alcoholic tramp on the streets. They are funded, briefed, and pushed forward blinking into the light, with the propaganda objective to desensitise and destabilise people against their anti-social idealogical ideas and agenda. I think this incarnation seems to be explicitly talking about environmental, human rights, and equalities legislation, 'holding us back'. So anyone with half a brain can see where they have come from, and what the objective is. But then it is quite bemusing that otherwise apparently intelligent people seem to be refusing to look at this sort of stuff objectively. Which is a bit of a worry going forward (and looking backwards at what has already been done to us).

Disappointing to see Felicity Scully AKA Holly Vallance in attendance. I might have to say no now.

Isn't her husband some sort of rich bastard property developer and Tory donor? I think he also funded Sean Bailey's London Mayor (failed) bid.

One of the Candy brothers who developed One Hyde Park. Also were interested in being part of the Chelsea takeover before Boehly did it.

I have a story about meeting his PA in a club in London Bridge called 'Shunt' when I was in my late 20s. She was wearing a nurses outfit for some reason despite it not being fancy dress. Let's just say if you're one of the Candy brothers you make sure that your staff are pleasing to the eye.

Knowing full well that the mother of Brianna Ghey was in the public gallery, Sunak uses the totally irrelevant attack line on Starmer that ‘he doesn’t know what a woman is’.

He really is a vile cunt.

Nick Candy couldn’t have enjoyed his event with Liz Truss, Lee Anderson and Co and has ditched the to Tories to back Starmer and Labour. Quite a turnaround.

I like the principles here very much.

I suspect they will completely fuck up the execution, as they do everything else.

    Same. And also Same.

I’m not so fussed about dissent.. but the broad acceptance of ‘taking a yellow for the team’ or a ‘clever foul’ fucks me right off.

Australia usually sticks its hand up to try new stuff out, and A-League sure-as-shit ain’t elite, so we might get to see it. It could be carnage through… the standard of defending is so poor that telling a cynical attack-killing foul from baseline ineptitude will be tough.

I'm sure this is all part of the plan but today's announcement that we are in a recession demonstrates how, aside from everything else, Rishi Sunak is just bad at politics.

    Quoted message:

    Five pledges for 2023 (www.gov.uk/government/news/prime-minister-outlines-his-five-key-priorities-for-2023)

We will halve inflation this year to ease the cost of living and give people financial security.
We will grow the economy, creating better-paid jobs and opportunity right across the country.
We will make sure our national debt is falling so that we can secure the future of public services.
NHS waiting lists will fall and people will get the care they need more quickly.
We will pass new laws to stop small boats, making sure that if you come to this country illegally, you are detained and swiftly removed.

Literally one (inflation) out of five. (I know that was basically inevitable but anyone with a brain should be putting in 3 or 4 of those.)

I've seen it said that being a Tory is playing poltics on easy mode. Can you imagine the press reaction if Starmer set himself 5 targets for his first year and missed four of them?
