It being in Potter’s Field is a little on the nose.

Just watched the Warrington v Wood fight from last night. If you haven't already and don't know the result, or even if you do, it's worth a watch.

New world record for the marathon set in Chicago today. Now it stands at 2:00:35 and the sub 2 seems like it's going to happen some time soon.

Is that with the new generation of rocket propelled shoes?

Yes, they're all running with Vaporflys now I think. They're considered legal by World Athletics, although there's a legitimate argument that Nike has too much sway over their processes, but to be the shoe that runs the first sub 2 in race conditions (i.e. not a track run with multiple pacers) is invaluable.

They should be made to run two marathons. One barefoot. And take the average as the record.

I did bump into a headline on the bbc for this story "Kelvin Kiptum shatters world marathon record in Chicago".

I did momentarily wonder if he'd been running around in his large intestine or some such.

Cracking finish. (In relation to Russ’s post on the Warrington, Wood fight)

It saddens me that the world feels comfortable that Israel will happily starve to death hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. They aren’t Hamas and should have access to basics.

I see that government ministers are encouraging football to get involved in politics.

Why these lying hypocritical enemies of society are not in jail, I will never understand.

That's pretty much how it seems to work.
It shouldn't be controversial to say "don't commit atrocities as a reaction against fascism AND don't commit warcrimes to punish atrocities"

I'm impressed/surprised this happened under the Tories. Is he not a donor?

    Yer, but he's nearly dead.

He famously donated a lot of money to Labour, though that may have been more to do with services rendered than political aleigance.
