I find it hard to explain why, despite everything, I am fascinated by the upcoming man-hatting and intend to watch the whole goddamn thing. Fortunately Nick Cave has explained it for me.

It's a very interesting and cogent argument.

I'll still pass though. It may be interesting, even fascinating, but so are many things in life. I'd rather spend the time seeking those out.

I understand that not everyone is the same, but personally I find these long drawn out cosplay events really tedious.

A bit like dungeons and dragons with dress up, except there's uncertainty and fun in playing a game, and participation is with consent.

I see it like one of those historical re-enactments, the link back to over 1000 years ago (and more) is fascinating to me as someone who loves that type of thing.

You’d think they’d be off book for the premiere.

Surely they could have got Rowan Atkinson to dress as a bishop and given him a line.

I liked the running joke that frock dude set up, about inviting everyone to pledge loyalty to their king.

    Very clever.

All quite normal in a modern mature democracy.

But. But. But we do this better than anyone else in the world. It makes me so proud to be British. The whole world is watching,

(Or. It’s all we’ve got left to make the populace and the rest of the world interested for about 5 minutes).

That people pay to travel here to gawp at us is not a massive surprise. If there was some other country suffering mass delusion as a result of what is essentially cosplay induced stockholm syndrome, I'd pay to go and watch too.

In more 'no real power' news, smooth running of cosplay event trumps citizens legal rights.

It was the perfect excuse for the Tories to increase their control over our free speech without public outcry about it. They have been letting protests get more and more out of hand and disruptive deliberately so they can clamp down on it, in the same way they're letting the NHS decline so they can privatise it to "make it better" without backlash.
    It's a slippery slope.

The country has lost it's way so much that a German football manager has had to explain free speech to us.

When I was on the flight back from Phoenix last week the plane was full of yanks all very excited about the Coronation. They've been well and truly at the Kool-Aid, especially for Republicans.

One American lady heard my accent and asked if I was going home to watch the Coronation. "If Charles was in my back yard, I'd close the curtains".

I don't mind the whole thing so much, but I didn't watch any of it. But at least it made it nice and quiet when I took the dog for a long walk Sat afternoon.
