I stopped going to (My Beloved) Melbourne City this season. Mainly on account of moving a distance from the city.. partly because the football is shit and the people running the league hate fans. I wondered if I’d miss it.. because the who ‘thing’ of going to the games was always fun… but I’ve barely even registered that the whole thing even still exists.

I can’t imagine that FIFA’s bullshit would put me off Forest.. but I’m already a distance down the road with being done with international football. Qatar wasn’t an aberration.. it was how it is, and if the people running the game internationally are happy to let FIFA give a peace prize to the man blowing up fishing boats for clicks then, y’know, maybe all I can do is pointedly suspend my streaming subscriptions and not watch their tournament.. but that seems like a thing I actually should, and would, do.

As someone who genuinely loves football. And for whom my formative attachment to the game was early memories of world cups ('70, '74). I totally respect and echo the sentiment. I've checked out since Russia. I do not feel that I'm missing out at all. I'm not depriving myself of anything. It's just that the thing that I liked is dead. It doesn't exist any more.

Much was made on here of the government taking back ownership of the railways. Can someone tell me when I might expect to see even a glimmer of improvement? So far,, at best it's no difference and if I'm honest I think it's worse.

They should build the delay repay refund into the up front ticket price and charge your card a supplement if the train actually arrives on time.

Doncaster has a nice new Great British Railways clock on platform 3a.

    Presumably it's running late?

It’s ok, our local Tory MP keeps getting about the press DEMANDING that ticket prices are reduced.

    14 fucking years…….

My brother and some of his friends went to the Qatar World Cup and said how brilliant it was without all the dickheads there. So every cloud and all that.

Well the Railways Bill only had its first reading in Parliament on Thursday - second reading is next week (Tuesday I think). So be a while yet.

Not sure how companies are now state owned without that being passed.

I'm not holding my breath either way!

  • 9 Nov 2025, 1:46 p.m.

I think they went state owned if they had gone tits up.

And not aiming this at you at all but it really does show the impossible job Labour have. Everyone wants years of shite fixed right away in a poor economic climate.

But it’s ok, Farage will be along soon to make everything much worse than even the Tories managed.

I see that a traitorous reform politician has been charged with corruptly selling out the country to foreign influence. Russian.

There's some big elephants wandering around the room. Hiding in plain sight. Like sex trafficking nonces hid in plain sight with princes and presidents.

In unrelated elephant news, I see trump that is pushing a pro-russian resolution to the ukraine war.

    Beyond sickening

If Melania isn’t Putin’s asset then my name is Boris…

Honestly can we fuck off the Americans now. It was always going to come to this but it’s still absolutely heartbreaking for the Ukrainian people.
