It's not like we can nuke Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg or the Vanguard Group et al though.

On a brighter political note, the return of Sure Start albeit under a new name is a good thing. The Sure Start centres under Blair's government had a huge positive impact young families, before being dismantled from 2010, and particularly 2015, onwards. Adding that to community hospitals and health provision feels like a couple of positive moves that will hopefully be felt in people's lives.

    All true. And more.

But Labour PR is at rock bottom. None of this stuff gets reported. Just the fuck ups and Reeves’ crying. Whilst giving free passes and blowjobs to Farage and ignoring everyone else

    We are fucked

How often are the cabinet on tv telling those stories?

  • trickylens

Let's not forget, it's as much about the reporting as the press releases. We live in a media age where the Johnsons lies were ignored and the truss's budget hailed as a work of genius.

Could that be because it's not the story that the people who own the TV want to tell?

Look objectively, and think critically. If you are taking what you are being fed at face value, you are going to be mugged off. It's entirely what the intention is. It's not even very subtle. It largely relies on peoples unwillingness to accept that they've been conned.

The combination of poor comms and an unbelievable reporting culture will leave us with a Reform government. The press have normalised Reform cuntitude in the same way as the US press did for MAGA and Trump.

How do you make good comms, when the enemy runs the comms?

People need to have a fucking good look in the mirror. If reform appears anything like a potential answer to you, you have been well and truly gupped.

I agree. Desperate people get gupped. Like they were with Brexit. And American were with Trump. Twice.

But Labour have to go on the offensive and be better at it. Why not call out Peston, Kuensberg, Robinson for being the Tory shills that they are? “I’m so glad you’ve asked this question as you showed no interest in this issue for 14 years. Why was that?” “I’m so glad you want to know why I took a helicopter to the G7, let’s talk about how you never questioned Truss or Sunak’s use of transport?”

Nandy needs to get rid of Gibb at the BBC and insist on balance on news programme reflected by the number of MPs and nothing else.

I've said on here before and I know noone believes me but my Tory supporting mates rage at the BBC for being left wing and labour sympathisers.

When I tell them the contrary view on here they too cannot comprehend it.

    So balanced is my conclusion.

  • trickylens

I would. There will be reasons why they are not.

    I am unsuitable for office.

Balanced around what is the question? Fascism?

If someone tells the truth, and someone lies, when people think the reality lies somewhere between, they are actually wrong. This is precisely why so much money and effort, over more than a decade, has been lavished on false equivalence - to create a false median point.

If you split the difference, you aren't being balanced and moderate...you've been recalibrated around viciously right wing. Simple overton window stuff.

If one side is saying "the Beeb won't stop lying to help Reform" and the other side is saying "the Beeb won't stop telling the truth about Reform" then it isn't unbiased. It just means that there are reporters (and facts) who cover Reform properly, and an editorial line that supports Reform.
Same in the US, same in AoNZ.

Hundreds of years of "all politicians are liars" means that when one group stops pretending they ought to tell the truth occasionally, then the people whose feelz are being stroked by the hate/ignorance/oversimplicity etc will say "they are all the same"

Reform have spent the first couple of months in power in Leics County deciding they won’t fly flags of minority groups at County Hall.

Should they ever control the country this is the kind of things we will have to look forward to. And more.

I doubt the government would barely function, they can’t even keep the few they have in line with the woman beating one having to give up the whip whilst his Covid loans are investigated.
