There are some good posting habits, that I would like people to get into.
If you are quoting an aspect of of a previous post, just highlight and quote that part of the post. A lazy reply with quote, to multiple nested posts, quickly becomes very unpleasant to read. There may be reasons to quote an entire post, and that's fine. As a general rule people want to read your new contribution, efficiently referenced to identify the key point to which you are responding, where appropriate. They don't want to read ten nested posts that they have already read before for the 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, th times. Try to have some pride in what you produce.
If you make a new thread, don't just blindly accept the default category - unless it is broadly appropriate. Make a reasonable best guess. Nobody is holding a gun to your head about your filing ability...but again, it's a small simple thing that can help others, and save me a load of unnecessary work.
Use an existing thread, if appropriate. You all have the right (currently) to create whatever threads you want, wherever you want to. It would be better to use an existing thread, rather than creating an almost identical thread, and impacting on higher search complexity coupled with the absence of a narrative thread due to unnecessary thread proliferation. Splintered discussion makes for harder reading.
Ultimately I'm not the arbiter of this, we all are....but if we tidy up our own rubbish, it will be a better place for everyone.
