    Victorians, innit?

I feel like this can somehow incorporate Dave Rave and my competing Victorian Terrace Chants from several years ago.

Now that I can't remember sadly. Thought I'm sure it had hilarious results!

    "The referee is a rapscallion"

    "You shall never sing that.
Champions of The Colonies, Protectorates and Mandates you shall never sing that.

    Sir"

Sign on, sign on, even though the National Insurance act won't come in until 1911...

Your team is so lacking in the requisite skills it defies accepted wisdom.

And one from our colleague in the Isle of Wight:

Your premises is of poor quality and your members are few in number

Would have cost 20 quid in an Uber, I'm 2 Madri's up!

Hang on. A pint of non descript average strength continental lager that isn't really contintinental is 7 quid a go these days?

£6.30 at Trent Bridge, extra £1 cup tax for the first.

You should take your own. With Brid in tow as back up in case it all kicks off with the stewards.

    Oh.

Make the trains run on time. Make cancelled trains an utter surprise rather than an expectation. Right size the trains for demand. Bring usage up, take prices down. And sort out the fucking WiFi.
Very much easier said of course

Are there any comparable countries in the world that offer good WiFi on trains? Feels like the tech isn't there really?

I'd never get on a train expecting the WiFi to be any good. I tether to my phone (also pretty crap).

I mean the WiFi on trains is basically a box on the roof with a SIM card in it, which everyone is then using for a WiFi connection through. I don't see as it's ever going to be better than what you can get though your phone.

Someone feel free to educate me as to how this is all incorrect.

It's on the outside of the metal tube, and can have a large efficient antenna. Can also have multiple connections. Trains go in quite predictable routes, unless malfunctioning, and network connectivity could be installed along these (let's call them) 'tracks'. Which could also in turn be used to enhance connectivity between locations on route without waiting for openreach to pretend to connect up rural populations.

Of course a profiteering rolling stock ticket resale operation has no need nor incentive to innovate in this space. A society looking to build social capital and infrastructure to improve it's offering and standard of living does.

I'm going out on a limb and saying none of this will happen. The culture of the rail industry won't allow it.
