Labour are clearly benefitting from the right wing vote split. This landslide victory is on a lower share of the vote than they got in 2017.

Hopefully they (Labour) see that they will be wiped out by a right wing alliance/agreement to prevent the split of the vote in five years and will bring in electoral reform and proportional representation before the next election.

    Sort of.

But Labour targeted Scotland and marginals to win and it worked. So vote share is down as they lost a lot of votes (they didn’t ’need’) in the cities (but still won the vast majority) but seats up massively as they had good increases in the more rural seats and win some by a mile.

They actually had a team that knew how to win an election this time.

So how long do Labour have before people turn on them for not delivering?

I'd say a month, but the summer and holidays will help so maybe a couple of weeks after the kids go back to school?

Glad Labour are in but, on a quick look, there’s some worrying stuff in those results (not just Jenrick winning). Tory + Reform are miles ahead of them and they’ll surely merge by next time, if there isn’t PR (which there won’t be). And those pro Gaza independents looks like people voting on religious lines, which is not great either.

It’s a bit simplistic. There are many reform voters who wouldn’t vote Tory. Reform were attractive to those who don’t like the mainstream, they don’t get that if they merge with the tories. And Farage wouldn’t play second fiddle to anyone.

Reforms vote share doesn’t look much different to peak UKIP.

5 years is a long time, Labour were apparently near extinction after 2019.

They are in the mid 30s now. What does that look like if people are even slightly disappointed in 5 years time?

Sure but some kind of electoral pact gets Tory+reform lots of seats on this showing.

Not sure she’ll be too unhappy about that. Can be the outspoken voice of the outsider and can fuck off to America.

Yes but politics is very very different now.

The economy will pick up in the next few years and things will get better for people. It’s not like Labour have come in promising the earth as they’ve promised very little.

The vote share is also partly a symptom of the Labour strategy, they didn’t mind losing votes in safe seats and targeted gains in marginals/hard to win seats.

    As ever, time will tell.

Couldn’t be arsed to stay up all night in the end. Saw the exit polls and turned in.

Woke up to see Ben Bradley’s bruised bollocks.

    Happy no Tories day.

No idea what you are basing this on. Hope isn't a strategy.
