The US is having a holiday for our election, that's nice.

Guess this is probably the first time that the 4th of July has been celebrated in the UK?

A US colleague once asked me if we marked the day, it was amazing how long it took for the penny to drop after I told him that we fly flags at half mast.

I have donned my white linen suit with Union Jack t-shirts and having a giant tea party in the front lawn. If they get mad I will hit them with scones and sarcasm and make them drink PG Tips. Those fuckers won’t know what to do.

Also yes I have been asked why we don’t celebrate. I had to point out that we are another country. Although the Mexicans go mental here during Mexican Independence Day which I don’t understand either as they clog American streets and generally cause a menace.

It’s all very odd over here.

Still gutted that I've got to get up early tomorrow and don't get to enjoy the carnage overnight. It's like being in the wrong time zone for a big game and having to wake up to the result - just not the same as watching it live.

I'm setting off shortly to work the Nottingham count. While not expecting anything dramatic there, I'm looking forward to seeing multiple Tories fucked off on the TV as the evening goes on.

It’s always been said a low turnout favours the Tories.

There’s reports that there is a high turnout and that this may favour the Tories.

    All a bit confusing.

Tory’s strategy over the last few weeks has blatantly been to reduce turnout among Labour supporters by giving the impression its all over. Hard to believe Hugh turnout is in their favour.

A bit more digging reveals it the Tories sending emails out about the higher turnout saying they have a chance so get out and vote…..whilst an electoral body states turnout seems pretty usual.

And others rightly point out there will be more people in the polling stations as ID has to be checked which takes more time.

Laurie, Dancy and Dennis would combine to turf out the Tories, I'm sure.

I'll be looking to have a pint this afternoon to farewell the blue corruption.

In my constituency (Broadland and Fakenham) the polls have the Tory incumbent neck and neck with Labour at 38% each. I've done my bit to oust the flappy-jowled prick, as have wifey and daughter. The champagne is on ice. Pray for us.

I've suspended my atheism specially for today. Labour need every vote here. If it takes divine intervention by a non-existent entity, I'll take it.

David Cameron must be well chuffed with how the Brexit referendum ended the threat of Farage to the Tories.
