It was the last day of the term today so I've been in the pub garden nearby with 7-8 other parents. Bit drunk.

    Wait what?

Does a feelgood factor make you vote Tory??

The theory is it makes you feel better about the country and more likely to vote for the incumbent.

I'm frequently wrong but I think people in general are mostly feeling positive about kicking the tories out and I don't think winning some football matches is going to change that.

Plus there really isn’t going to be a much of a feelgood factor if we’ve made the quarter finals. It would be totally expected.

‘Yay we’ve just beat Poland’ - heads to polling booth and votes Tory. ‘Fuck off kids you can starve and hooray for the 4 weeks wait to see a GP’.

But I can see this in any desperate Tory advisors thinking.

It's the latest middle class WhatsApp fad. End of term - take kids and dogs to fancy pub and trash it.

If you are that stressed about it why is a random bloke in Canada who doesn't have a reason to give a toss 3 steps ahead?

Adults taking kids to a pub garden for a few drinks has been a staple of Britain for generations hasn't it?

Technically it's half term not the end of term unless Sheffield has adopted some crazy school scheduling?

Imagine the scenes when it is actually end of term/end of year.

Bizarrely my kids’ school in #SteelCity does refer to six terms!!

When I was a youth, it was Autumn Term, Spring Term and Summer Term.

Now it appears to be Autumn Term, Winter Term and now Spring Term. Adds a little more sadness in my eyes.

Fuck me. Had to triple check that wasn’t well-constructed fake.

So I suppose the answer to your question is ‘they’re trying to get the boomers and cunts to rock up and make it look a bit less humiliating’.

It's odd. Most boomers etc have grand children who they wouldn't be keen on sending to war, so doesn't even seem to work for what you assume is their intended target market.

Says they’ve given up on actually fighting the election and are just trying to appeal to potential reform voters to avoid a sub 100 seat wipeout. Intrigued now by how crazy they could get in the next month.

They really are utter cunts. This ridiculous idea would cost far more than 2.5b and be unworkable. For the majority who would decide they don’t want to spend a year unpaid playing soldiers, they’d be turning up at weekends to ‘help’ the police or NHS. Doing what exactly? It would just be a logistical nightmare.

It would harm any 18 year old wanting part time work (and the businesses), would harm any studies or employment and really impact any 18 year old wanting to make their way in sport given they’d be missing training or fixtures.

Just fuck the fuck off you youth hating bastards.
