I can remember their fans posting some truly unhinged conspiracy stuff on football message boards accusing the Premier League/European teams of having it out for US players. Bobby Convey and Landon fucking Donovan the most notable, iirc.
Yes, he was the energetic athletic winger. Can't recall how technically good he was, but then again he didn't really need to be at the level we were at the time.
That video went semi viral a few years ago, he's USMNT personified. If you want to go down that particular hilarious rabbit hole, google "I believe that we will win" which I think was their chant from the South Africa WC. I love that North America is embracing soccer but the way they do it is so fucking cringey.
Sadly that side might be just about our best chance of getting anything today. Which is hilarious when you consider how much we spent on attacking players this summer.
It depends if it's part of a wider acceptance that tactics / adaptability are needed to succeed in this league. Even Pep, with his stacked squad, is evolving his style to deal with new challenges. A Warburton-esque "Plan B is to do Plan A better" was naive in the Championship, let alone in the PL.
I think it must be Anderson, Yates and MGW in a midfield 3, so 3-5-2 rather than 3-4-3 (which would feel like suicide against their midfield). Savona as a wing-back might be interesting.
