This thread really should've been called Gaming and Mince.

Looks like I could get RDR1 for the Switch, but not RDR2. Would you?

Not so much. RDR1 is a fine game, but dated. RDR2 was so ahead of everything else that it still holds up

Based on this thread's recommendation, I have ordered RDR2. It arrives Sunday and hibernation can begin.

I really didn't think it would be my thing. And it took a bit of perserverance due to low skill level, but I got really drawn in. And I learned to hate a character more than I'd expected. Fuck Micah.

Started RDR2. Please tell me it gets more engaging than it is so far, because right now it's reminding me of Death Stranding which is my most hated game ever. Just endlessly plodding around at glacial speeds worrying about keeping a horse alive is not how I want to spend many hours.

Bought a VR headset. Early days of using it, but the technology is seriously impressive.

That's sort of the plan that I have for the rest of my life.

Meta Quest 3. Sure I will play some games on it, but for the moment I'm more interested in figuring out how it works and trying out some of the VR experiences you can download for free.

The rollercoaster app is insane. Incredible how it tricks the mind into thinking you're actually on a ride while sat on your sofa. Bonkers. This is pretty cool, too.

Will pay for the Google Earth app at some point, as that looks fascinating. The way you can watch your streaming services in a virtual cinema (think retro 1980s Showcase) on a big screen is also really clever.

Russ wants to kill horses, apparently.

I put in about 20 hours and now the disc is a coaster.

It absolutely gets better. Chapter 1 is about learning how to play. Chapter 2 leaves it to you. First playthrough, I took ages in chapter 1 because it was dull, hard and slow.
One thing you might consider for longer trips is setting the destination marker, starting to trot along, and then use cinematic view (hold V for a few seconds for PC). Then your horse will follow the road nice and safely. Just keep an eye/ear out for those entertaining side missions along the way.
    Save often.
Hunt legendary animals - it's not that hard, and the rewards make life a little easier. And you get to explore the world.
Find the gunslingers - fun weapons also improve the experience.
If the poverty is too miserable then you can always look up where to find gold. Check chimneys, especially.

Christ, this sounds like an elaborate metaphor for modern-day Britain...
