Do we have a thread? I don't think so?

I've just bought Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Switch. Figure I'll have plenty of time for it on the way to/from Seville (not to mention London trips for work). Slightly concerned that I might have Zelda burnout from Breath of the Wild but we'll see.

I finished Red Dead Redemption 2 the other day. It's too big for me to want to replay it, but it really is a wonderful game with an excellent story. Nasty af, and a decent suggestion as to why the US is what it is today.

Another vote for RDR2. Really enjoyed it but, as you mention, haven’t gone back.
Currently absorbed with The Division 2. It’s grinding in parts but extremely shooty/explodey in passers without being too much of an RPG. So right up my strasse.

Edit to add that some of the antagonists in it (especially the “True Sons”) are a reasonably accurate facsimile of certain “weee, guns!” people in the US at the moment.

Having not turned on my PS5 for several months, we're approaching the time of year when weekends will be spent on the sofa watching sport and playing games. Not sure what's out there but I will be picking up something to immerse myself in for a lot of hours - RDR2 has been on the list for a while. My favourite all time games are Witcher 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and the Tomb Raider series, some or all of which may be due a fresh playthrough. I really enjoy single player, third person open world games that allow me to spend countless hours roaming around pursuing aimless side quests.

Also me. Maybe it's a getting older thing. Being able to do things at your own pace. It's why I loved the Zelda game on the switch so much.

I'm still tempted by a VR headset because I'm not, or never really have been, a gamer but quite like the other stuff you can do on them.

You and me both. Though as said, I think more the glasses. I think I might enjoy using them for work/coding. Essentially put 3-4 huge monitors at head level. Plus you can connect some of them to the Switch, so I can play that on a big screen while on a train/plane etc.

Have you played anything with VR yet ? My brother-in-law has the Oculus Rift so I use it semi-regularly when we are at their place. It's good ... but maybe a bit gimmicky? I don't think they use it day to day at all.

RDR2 is my fave game of all time. I rarely play games these days but I revisit the epilogue of RDR2 every Xmas break and spend a couple of days drinking and just fucking about randomly on that massive game. It’s excellent.

There’s still some undiscovered secrets in the game (worldwide) all these years in.

Looks like I could get RDR1 for the Switch, but not RDR2. Would you?

No, never tried it which is why I'm still weighing it up. I'd be more for the wider VR experiences, I think, than the games. Like this for example, which is really clever.

I ought to get the Meta Quest 3s really as the entry-level model if I do take the plunge but I'm a sucker for the more capable version, so could easily see me dropping nearly £500 on the 3.

Yeah I've done that. It's absolutely amazing. Properly heart racing, sweating etc. I guess you could eventually train yourself but jeez it's realistic. My brother in law has a real plank that he grabs from the cellar and puts it on the floor for doing it with. Makes it a bit more immersive.

You could do with finding someone who has one and trying it out a bit before deciding to buy. Or I guess you could always return it after a week or so if you don't get on with it.

Pass. Quite an old one. He's had it maybe 6-7 years.

They released a next gen upgrade a while back, free if you already own the game, so I did a replay, it's still one of the best.

RDR2 is probably THE best game ever, definitely recommend.
