Six year contract, so yeah, we can. If we do down I expect we'll hang onto him for a season or so.

Not a chance. Too good for the Champo.

There's many players who are too good for the Championship, that are playing in the Championship.

We'll need to sell a few to balance the books, but I think the likes of Johnson and MGW are more likely. Maybe Taiwo. After that, he's on a six year contract and only joined in January. I think he'll stay and rip the Championship to shreds.

Is it right Johnson has a 30m relegation release clause in his contract?

  • JimShadypanorama_fish_eye

Correct. Clause 36(b). Only activated if we are relegated on a Wednesday though, so we should be ok.

    Apparently he does on Fifa

We will sell 1 maybe 2 big money players should we go down but with the aim of coming back I don’t think they will all go.

Brennan and MGW would be the most likely but I’d be hoping we’d still have the likes of Filipe, Danilo, Taiwo to lead the charge back up.

As for yesterday it was a good point but probably our most likely of all 3 with the games left. It’s going to the last kick on the last day.

My thinking is the two most likely to be in demand would be Brennan and Danilo.
MGW is too expensive. Felipe too old. Taiwo too raw. Yatesy too Forest.

I would also have Danilo as the one I'd most like to keep.

I dont think Danilo has had enough time to be worth big money yet. (If we go down) Maybe next Jan if we aren't doing well.

No, but he was heavily scouted by the likes of Arsenal before we conducted our swoopage, so they know all about him and he's showing that the potential will translate to the Prem. Plus he "only" cost 18M, so making a small paper profit would be straightforward.
Dunno. I hope it doesn't come to it.

With a six year contract there is no way we are selling for a small paper profit.

Depending on contractual arrangements, maybe. But if, say, Liverpool showed up with £30M and a hefty wage increase, I don't think our 6 year contract would feel too binding to a young Brazilian.
    I'm quite possibly too pessimistic.

But we don't have to sell, we have a 6 year contract. I can't see Mr Marinakis just saying to sell him for less.

Normally I would poo-poo the suggestion of any of our players being taken by liverpool. But this poo-poo is a no poo-poo. He's raw, and still needs a bit of work...but from the eye test, and rate at which he has acclimatised, I could see him fitting in at liverpool. They've had a use for worse midfielders and been successful recently.

The purchase price, and the length of contract for him, looks like the best business we've done recently. I suspect people at the club will have noticed that, and not let him go on the cheap.
