Elanga has lost the ball a few times taking on the man, when he could have passed. I understand the frustration of that, but I don't mind the intent and the pressure that puts their back line under.

Awoniyi seems to be enjoying this. He has got a grin bigger that the one Dwight Yorke used to wear. Maybe Jesus has told him he is going to score.

Look immediately how Odysseus is screaming at his defence and taking control. Look also at his footwork. He hasn't had much to do and I'm not drawing any conclusion about his ability (I have never seen him play a full game before today) but he looks like he might actually know what he's doing. We can but hope.

That one wasn't offside. What happened to letting play run then flagging or checking?

Good - we've kept Villa mostly at arm's length.
Bad - we've blown a lot of chances for a 1 on 1. Taiwo - you're standing on the halfway line level with their defenders. As soon as you move you're offside. You don't need a head start, you're fast enough to chase the pass (apart from the overhit ones to their keeper). -
Well we are doing what we do well when we have the personnel available and scaring teams on break with Elanga/MGW and critically Awoniyi. We should have had more. I do wish with Sangare/Mangala/Domingues we could be a bit more dominant and composed in the middle though as on paper they are the kind of players who are good enough to do that and if they don't eventually we are going to get caught out or Niakhate/Murillo will drop a clanger.

This is all true but he is nevertheless so so dangerous and we are so much better with him in the team. If they carry on giving us those chances he will take one.

That kick from Vlachodimos to Elanaga was way beyond anything Turner is capable of.

I wouldn't mind Boly replacing Taiwo or Elanga here. The ball isn't sticking up front and 3 at the back would allow Aurier and Aina to get closer to their full backs.
