I've had a look at them, and I'm pretty sure that they are an actual shoe, with an actual sole. That has a physical dimension, and thus makes you taller. Rather than being some sort of weird leather sleeve that your feet stick out the bottom of.
If you can't afford the shoes (you definitely can), you could try standing on a thin piece of carpet for a similar result*.
* Resisted the temptation to say "just take care that you don't get lost in the pile".
