A bit early some might suggest but I am attempting to make Mince Pies on my day off tomorrow. Wifey is great at them but since it’s American Thanksgiving she is otherwise preoccupied. It will probably be a disaster but am looking forward to it.

    Chicago: Making Mince jealous.

Christmas burgers: Turkey burgers, with a mushroom sauce, in a cranberry and pumpkin loaf.

    Not a curry.

Supper: French toast with marmite, and fromage frais with honey.

    Not two courses. Eaten together.

Made a meal that tricky would have been proud of. Pilau rice, refried beans, cajun spiced ground turkey, sauteed cabbage with garlic and chilli, and fresh avocado.

In my defence, I came home drunk and all of the above with the exception of the avocado were leftovers that needed eating. Tasted fantastic though, and for drunk food it's pretty nutritionally balanced.

All of those things go together perfectly naturally. Apart from avocado. I don't like avocado.

I have white cabbage in the fridge, untouched for weeks... Yet red cabbage I seem to get stuck into straight away. White for sauerkraut, red for everything else. I cannot explain why.

I hope your cabbage was red.

My pre-game of golf meal of choice used to be chilli and chips, with a couple of pints. Today I am having apple and cinnamon porridge, with 0% fat greek yoghurt.

    Oh how we change.

Sounds like something we will be having when we are in the health and wellness centre in Montenegro in a couple of weeks.

    Yikes!

    Chicago: Already missing my eggs.

Today I expect to be having most of my allowable calories for the day in beer. And crisps.

Just done the big shop, could not resist the return of walkers Worcester sauce crisps that have recently returned, inhaled a pack when we got home.

I had some in the week with a Tesco meal deal, didn't think they tasted like I remembered.

Diet protein rich "not really cheesecake".

Sandwich two corn (or rice) cakes with hazelnut chocolate spread. Soak and dissolve over heat 1tsp agar agar, in 50ml of water (could use gelatine or cornflour as an alternative), mix in a tbsp of honey and strawberry conserve (or sweeteners of choice, to taste). Remove from the heat, and stir in 100g of fromage frais (yoghurt, including low fat, would work, but not as well). Select a pastry cutter of similar size to the corn cake, and balance on the base. Pour the fromage frais mixture into the cutter. Refrigerate for around half an hour. When set to the touch, run a knife around the cutter to release, and push off.

I don't like desserts enough to piss about much, or waste calorie allowance on super sweet or pastry based stuff, but this can be made out of store cupboard ingredients in ten minutes work, plus setting time.

Lightly pickled rhubarb compote, with fromage frais, cornflakes, honey, and a rhubarb syrup today.

    Was given some rhubarb.

Peruvian? Does this involve lots of honey?
