Nuno at Wolves definitely used the FA Cup to give fringe players a run out - mixed results in his time there, 3R, SF, 3R, 5R, IIRC (I looked the other day).
But given a victory gives us a fortnight off, he might go a bit stronger.
Would expect most of the subs v Man Utd (Tavares, Worrall, Mangala, Neco, Kouyaté, CHO, Toffolo, Vlachodimos, Boly) who are available to start (obv question marks over Worrall and Tavares).
Then there's
Hennessey and Horvath (who was at MU game), but with both linked with departures, could we see Shelvey on the bench?
Felipe, Omobamidele, Aguilera, Origi, plus how far off fitness is Taiwo?
Osapa is injured, but potential for Norkett (scored a few for U21 before Christmas), Abbott, McDonnell, Konate to be around?
Vlach; Neco, Omobamidele, Felipe, Toffolo; Mangala, Yates; CHO, Aguilera, Konate; Origi.
Subs: Hennessey, Murillo, Montiel (or Abbott), Danilo, McDonnell (or Thompson), Dominguez, Wood, Elanga, Awoniyi (or Norkett)
Leaves new dads Turner and MGW to have a proper rest.
That front 4 is not inspiring in the slightest.
However close to fitness Taiwo is I'd be letting him get two weeks closer before playing him.
I want to see us win but I want to see him play the rest of the season more.
VAR sends off Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a tackle that was arguable as to whether it was even worth of a booking. I can only presume they were so bored by the preceding 78 minutes that they decided to try and make the last 15 or so a bit more interesting.
I imagine the suspension will be overturned but it wouldn't do us any harm if he missed a game.
I thought it was a red.
McNeill now being stretchered off.
Never a red card. Slow, controlled slide and he scoops the ball away. Minor contact but in context of the play nothing to it at all.
It won't be overturned though with it coming from VAR.
A draw then. No not-quite-2-week-break for these lads
No Elanga, no Felipe, Origi a doubt.
Don't mind Elanga sitting this out at all, he's become pretty key to what we do and there's no sense in risking him against a League One team.
On the Nuno pre match he seems to say that Worrall will play (not necessarily on Sunday) and can still convince him.
Could just be messaging, obviously.
I know I'm biased on Worrall, but he makes so much sense for Nuno. His Wolves team got the headlines for the expensive Mendes imports (several of whom made Wolves a ton of money after terrific play for a season or two, don't forget), but those teams were built around a core of British players like Conor Coady, Ryan Bennett and Barry Douglas. I think he can absolutely be a crucial part of our team going forward.
Anyone know why we are playing Sunday not today? I can't see any clashes. Can only think it is for overseas TV?
Notts were supposed to be playing this afternoon.
When it was scheduled for Sunday the reason given was it was picked for overseas TV.
