It was cold.
We jumped around because we were at the match where Pliers made a save.
Tavares is a pants defender.
Aguilera is ace.
Dude behind us collapsed and and the stewards were glacial in responding.
I enjoyed that. We showed a decent attitude and played well for an hour. Then messed up to allow them back in and that second was always going to come. But dug in to the get the win.
I think they have the best home record in L1, it was never going to be be easy but n a frozen bobbly pitch.
Aguilera looked very good and I was wondering why we hadn’t yet seen him. Think he’ll have a part to play though.
Concerned about the number of injuries we picked up and Turner has to come back in. Yes he has a mistake in him but at least he does make saves.
Vlachodimos must have just been unlucky so far, right? No one could have had the career he’s had when any decent shot goes in. There’s a few where he’s looked bad on crosses (both second goals against Blackpool) but none of the shots are obvious “should have saved that”.
The problem with Turner is that his weakness is so obvious and so obviously exploited. If he’s in goal Saturday, Frank will just say that the nearest man should close him aggressively every time the ball goes to him. At worst, they’ll get lots of throws in our half and there’s a good chance he’ll just pass to Toney.
The Blackpool opener wasn’t a thunderbolt. It was even right in the top corner. Most keepers would have saved that.
Looking back I think he can be forgiven for the first goal, but the second was awful.
I'm reserving judgement on Aguilera until he's done more than run around energetically against a tiring League one team.
But he might have to play Saturday just to make up the numbers.
Nuno can't complain as he's on record as liking a small squad, he's fucking got one now.
I thought he was the highlight of the night when he came on - aggressive but controlled, neat and tidy, turn of pace, good decision-making and always looking to get the ball forward. I really liked him.
Thought Omobamidele had a decent game too, and McKenna did exactly what we needed him to do for the last part of the game - kicked and headed everything away with zero fucking around. Given he hasn't played for months, he did well. Someone a little further down the pyramid is going to pick up a fine centre half when he moves on.
I get that but we can only judge on what we see and I think that type of player may actually find it easier with a bit more space, better pitch, not being booted as hard etc. time will tell.
I agree - the concern with Aguilera was whether he was up to the physicality - for him to put in a decent showing against league 1 defenders on a hit pitch is a promising sign. If CHO and Elanga are out on Saturday, it's got to be worth giving him some time.
He looked good on the ball, nice athleticism, good technically, but did anyone else not think that his final ball decision making was complete pony?
I liked his attitude as well as his skills. Being up for a fooking freezing night in Blackpool in January is a good sign.
The passing stats don't bear that out According to Callum
Brandon Aguilera made 4 key passes in 35 minutes tonight. Nico Dominguez was the only player on the pitch who made more, with 5 in 120 minutes.
I only managed to keep an eye on the score last night, couldn't watch or listen. What's the situation with our team/injuries. Seems like a few people picked them up?
CHO and Murillo possibly. MGW sounds like def out for the weekend maybe longer.
CHO got clattered early in the second half and was down for a while. Continued but then went off 15 minutes later (looked Iike maybe a groin injury). Radio Nottingham said Danilo was limping off the pitch at the end as well.
EDIT: Murillo too
