I would like us to have a proper go at the Cup this season. We've built a good early points total that should be plenty of buffer against any relegation worries, Guru has made it clear that we can't compete for a European spot, and we have enough squad quality and depth that we could have a legitimate shot at winning it.
Is that really 15 out of EPL clubs drawn at home??
BBC will want Arse v Man U and Tamworth v spudz.
Presume ITV will show bindippers v Accrington just because. And possibly Citeh v Salford. I think they are still crying over Wrexham being knocked out tho.
I’d have thought we’d be one of the least attractive ties. Perception will be little chance of an upset - they’ve been shit this year and we’re at home; we’re not in the automatic selection club and not even much novelty as we’ve played them in the league this year.
I wouldn’t mind a cup run to go with our mid-table security. It would be better if, by Jan 11th, Danilo and Sangare were fit, Taiwo found some form and we had a few more points from the next 7 games. (City, Scum, Villa, Brentford, Spudz, Everton, Wolves) W2D3L2 and we would be on >30pts. Even I might be happy with that state of affairs.
Cue 3rd round banana skin…against plucky little Luton.
We always struggle against plucky little Luton. One of those meh sort of ties. As a possible mid-table club, we'd ideally like a much lower opponent to ease our way through. A physical battle against Luton is no good.
Be interesting to see what they price the Luton game at. Obviously should be £15 or less but I'd guess something around 20,000 will probably be the attendance regardless, so they'll probably be similar price to Newcastle.
