It was a quote, not my view. The point is that it was Trippier's mistake that ultimately cost us our player of the tournament so far.

Anyway, we simply can't carry on with Trippier (although his injury might solve that anyway). Whether that means Walker or TAA playing at left back or a back three (although no idea who'd play on the left of the three) and Saka as LWB. Realistically though, taking a punt on Shaw is probably the best option and the one Southgate will take.
Playing Foden, Bellingham & Kane still isn't working, even though they are all good players and all have had their moments. Pick 2 - having good players who can come on is a positive.
But the main thing, and I don't know how to fix it, is to stop the endless passing with the whole opposition in front of them. I get they are trying to work a gap but you need to put the ball at risk to create a threat. 70% possession, when it's like that, is one of most pointless things in football. They are good players, they can execute difficult passes and control and retain the ball when they are under pressure - do more of that.

Definitely not for me. I don't fancy gambling on a player with a gammy hammy, who hasn't played for five months, and shouldn't even be here. The idea that Englands tournament progression should come down to whether that comes off or not is totally bonkers. Remember, we've got the best squad in the tournament (albeit only in the judgement of idiots or those laying a false jeopardy trap).

Having the best squad in the tournament doesn't turn on whether Luke Shaw is in it or not. Clearly as a player who is not fit, he shouldn't be. I would play Saka as the left wing back.

I'm not lying. I think we've got the best squad in terms of talent in Euro 2004 and I stand by that. I don't even think that's controversial. It's probably more controversial to think we can still win it, which I do despite a Gareth Southgate shaped millstone around their collective necks. Will we win it? Probably not but there's a good chance we muddle through to the final and Kane gets the golden boot.

I'll happily wager tricky or anyone with the conviction and bravery to stand behind it. Not for money, but for usernames.
