I'm watching in a pub, and it's not even very busy, and everyone is pretty silent and meh about the whole thing.

It isn't slow and disjointed because all the players have forgotten how to pass and move. It's slow and disjointed because they've not been set up to play effectively together. There's an absolute fuckton of elite offensive talent out there standing around waiting for someone to actually make runs.

Most of these players do not play 4-2-3-1 week in week out. Mainoo, Guehi, Pickford(!).
Even all of Southgate’s “success” has been 3-4-3. Kane unsuited to lone striker role, Foden not a left winger, Rice more than a DM. Trippier not a left-back.
It’s all down to the head coach. -

There's some laughably dead legs out there. Massive structural issues in terms of availability of an early pass to break the shape/ crack the press. No runs, the man on the ball only sees faces coming towards him. Nobody with the range of passing to conjure up a miracle.
Southgate has bowed to pressure and picked a squad that can't play to his game plan, but not trialled any other game plans, or trained for them, or even mentioned them in passing by the looks of the game.

There is no midfield. Take off tripper and walker. Bring gomez in. Bring on Palmer. Fill midfield. If you look Slovakia always are outnumbering us in the middle of the park. It is so slow and no one is moving into spaces to break the lines. We need that extra player in midfield and Kane has been useless. Stay up cunt or get off the field. I would replace him with Watkins unless we are confident we can make it to penalties.
