Our weakest link for me looks like TAA. Obviously got lots of ability and capable of playing in a good ball, and intelligent enough to switch between inside and out to the right when it suits which is deeply funky, but unfortunately he has mistakes in him. Maybe he'll settle though.

“Here’s how Group C stands after a game and a half.” What shit.

I disagree. Saka has had so much space because Kane has had so little. When you have a goalscorer of Van Basten/Lewandoski/Kane-like threat playing down the centre it's a big focal point for defenders and when you have players who cam move like Saka, Foden and Bellingham around you they are the ingredients for a very unpleasant 90 minutes if you are a defender.

Lucy Ward on the international broadcast thinks that the problem is that Saka et al haven't done a good enough job of finding Kane.

Power of the brand. It can't be the people who have no idea what they are looking at.

The ref is letting Serbia get away with quite a lot. It's more the sort of football I'd like to see. But it's unusual.

No Alan. The one thing that's been missing is someone up front doing something.

Gallagher coming on, still hoping to win that Forest move.

  • 16 Jun 2024, 9:33 p.m.

Like the way that he's only come on as a sub. Nobody will notice he's a decent player. Keeps the price down.

  • 16 Jun 2024, 9:39 p.m.

Where's Phil Foden, cos the guy who plays for City sure as shit isn't on that pitch tonight?

  • 16 Jun 2024, 9:42 p.m.

Was in the first half. We aren't as high, and there's fewer to hit. ... and they are on the move. So he's playing in a side on transition.... rather than picking the locks shitty are normally faced with.

    Fine.

Made somewhat hard work of it but fine.

  • 16 Jun 2024, 10:21 p.m.

TAA on tonight's evidence is fine against crap opposition willing to sit back and give him space to work in. As soon as they close him down or worse, make him try and defend, he's hopeless. Gallagher coming on made a huge difference.

  • 16 Jun 2024, 10:29 p.m.

He was actually a lot more solid in the second half than the first, particular in the period just before he came off. But yeah bit of a worry. I would keep him in for the group games at least to see if we can get him to settle and for his passing, because although Gallagher is also very good he isn't likely to be spraying many world class balls about and he looks like Jimmy Bullard. A midfield with technical ability in it of the level of Bellingham and TAA is attractive so it's worth persisting with to see if we dam get it to work. But if we can't he is a real risk.

Harry Kane might very well give Chicken In Wellies a run for his money. He was running in concrete. Dreadful performance. I would have put on Watkins to at least get behind Serbia who basically just stood behind ‘Arry. TAA looked nervous to me. Obviously a fine player but didn’t look comfortable tonight.

I see that people are coming around to liking my bum boy Gallagher. He is not tidy but he gets stuck in and against Serbia that is okay.

Jude Bellingham is a magnificent player but in the second half I notified a bit of show boating when a simple pass would have sufficed. He could get injured being that cocky. He is a mercurial talent and we are lucky to have him but needs to maybe wind it in and keep it simple when the games are close. Simple bit of coaching should do it.

All i all, a pretty straight forward win. Foden didn’t have a good game but I thought Saka who was not getting any decisions (racism?) played very well and Jarrod (I train by carrying sacks of potatoes at my uncle’s farm) looked very good when he came in.

Special shout out to Marc Guehi. Best defender easily. Nice young talent.

Also an odd decision to put Manoo on for Bellingham when Cole Palmer was right there. I suppose we were seeing out the game.

We will get through the group but I suspect the Dane’s will probably cause us bother because they always do.

    Chicago: Easily satisfied.
