    From the Times report

But Elliot Anderson, reinvented as a No6 for this tournament, is Carsley’s greatest gift to Tuchel. He played with the fight, intensity and technical skill of a master. Anderson said the England head coach had not spoken to him before the tournament — they must have plenty to catch up on.

Do you think we will play him more as a 6 this season?

Think it depends if we sell MGW.

I don't see him as a 10, regardless. He'll either sit or play box to box.

    Indeed. He's a good 6, a superb 8 and can probably do a job at 10.

Great player that he is, Anderson isn't getting selected over Rice.

No, he’s not - but no sensible manager picks only one player for that role for (he hopes) a long tournament in taxing conditions.

Don't know what the England "Lions" training regime looks like, but it doesn't seem to involve much running or kicking.

You have to feel sorry for little Tommy, who has to watch this crap - presumably contractually.

There's a degree of whining about the referee from apologists for the lions. They seem to be overlooking the reality that England were crap. Passing simple balls to the opposition, and not being able to run, was why they lost. Not the referee. They were fortunate not to take a real pounding.

Should we start calling him Brian?

EDIT: Oh. Russ already did that. Move along. Nothing to see etc

England utterly dominant against the Netherlands today. Controlled the game from the start.

Always feels like the presentation of women's football (and cricket) isn't realistic about terrible performances. The Italian goalkeeper tonight fucked up really badly and all the presenters didn't seem able to admit it was shit.

Englands wimmin score from an early penalty. Definitely not a foul.

Commentator opines "Wales are just surviving here". They are surviving 3-0 down after half an hour. I don't expect a lot of survival overall for them here.

Yes, I’ve always found that odd.

It’s a difficult watch. Even though England are dominant and James and Bronze are good, it sort of stops there. Wales are abject. The overall quality is extraordinarily poor.

James looks like a footballer. The only one I can see that can kick the ball properly. Absolutely strolling half arsed through the game, and head and shoulders the best player.
