You can see Rice or Bellingham being long term future captains, of popular opinion. Personally I'd rather a centre half that steps into midfield, than a workhorse who is going to be on rotation. Simply for consistency on the field. The one fly in the ointment is this stupid idea that only captains can talk to referees. you don't want them out of position all the bloody time.
