There's also a suggestion that Elanga has picked up an injury with Sweden.

Someone please explain to me why England vs Malta and England vs North Macedonia justifies missing a weekend of Premier League football.

So that we can watch deadlegs pad his stats against minnows?

Are you suggesting we should qualify automatically?

No, I'm suggesting that we'd have far fewer unnecessary international weekends if top teams didn't have to waste their time pointlessly running up the score on countries whose national team would get spanked by most League 2 clubs.

Ha! Just don’t watch it like the rest of us.

A good weekend to get the Xmas shopping done. Maybe.

It's good fun. Dion is constantly wittering on about deadlegs, like he's the second coming of christ. Meanwhile he's failed to capitalise on some brilliant balls from TAA, chucked in a trail the leg dive to try to buy a penalty, and got booked. At the other end, Maguire is being outpaced by attackers in a team ranked over 100 in the world.

    I'm loving it.

    What are you loving especially?

Remember, as Gareth said, Foden can’t play CM because he doesn’t play there for his team. Like Tomori doesn’t play LB and TAA doesn’t play CM for their teams. I think he’s just doing it for the giggles now. I’m gonna play a new midfield and defence, but why would I try a different CF in what is a glorified friendly?

Hey, don't forget. We can't play a different striker or centre half, because nobody else has the experience.

Meanwhile deadlegs and the lampost continue to crank it out against pub teams beginning with "M".

This is a pretty miserable game on more than one level.

Just turned on to hear Dion Dublin regaling us with a story about how they used to play a game called ‘two touch’ in training. He then explained the rules to us in case we weren’t sure. It’s a revelation.

Enjoyed how Dion Dublin felt the need to explain the premise of a two-touch session in training. Outstanding insight.

Strongly suspect that if I went out for a drink with him, that I would spend quite a lot of time saying "that one needs some work".

England win 7, draw 1. Goal difference+18. England fans "this is shit".

When other nations do this, we call them ruthless and professional.

This is the best England team in my lifetime. And we still moan.
