Always enjoy reading Barney Ronay's stuff. But he's surpassed himself here: "The midfield pivot is mobile and fit for purpose. If nobody has called Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice And and Dec yet, then why not?"

Watching Belgium v Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan keeper has been incredible.
Greece v Scotland is interesting.
Recap on england international news so far this week.
All gone quiet on the generationally best kicker of a football, playing for the worlds biggest club. Probably wont make the squad. His club teammate, probably the best box to box player in world probably wont start. But what will happen is that a structure based around a three man press, finely tuned for the summer. Led by Harry Kane. Yes folks that's 'press', 'kane, and 'summer'. I'm not even being satirical. I think the only person outside our international manager who has used those words together before is me...but no sign of the 'can't', that I also used, from our german overlord master tactician.
I'm not going to lie to you, I'm hardly wanking like a chimp in anticipation. Still, never mind. Let's see how we get on against Moldova again this afternoon.
What is your reasoning for not naming these players?
World's biggest club is Real Madrid, no? So the generations best player would be Bellingham? But that doesn't leave anyone to be the box to box midfielder.
I think he's talking about Israel. They're the ones playing Moldova this afternoon.
It's literally just above your post, so that you can refer to it. Yet you seemingly read it wrong, and definitely summarised it wrong.
What chance the thickoes, when that's the best that we can do? You are at least correct in that if you are unable to read it properly, you will definitely misinterpret it.
But really the important takeaway is that the german england manager has said that our structure is based around a press, for which deadlegs is a key component. In the summer. I hope he's lying for reasons of maintaining a competitive advantage. Although I doubt that there are many people alive who would be surprised if that didn't happen, so he's not really fooling anyone. Hopefully not even himself.
Ancelotti compared him to Kaka. I confess to watching no La Liga football and virtually no Champions League so most of what I've seen of Bellingham has been in an England shirt, but that comparison seems bold. I accept that this may be a function of the way he's used for England, but he doesn't look like a player who's determined to do the best he can regardless of what he's asked to do - he displays none of the Pearce or Rooney "I'll play in goal if they ask me to" attitude that you want from an international footballer.
I'd assumed it was Anderson and MGW.
So, we’re all shit at reading comprehension then?
Anderson only on the bench, thankfully.
Sorry Jim, missed this.
Because using a name, and just implying the argument ,is not what I wanted to draw peoples attention to. It was the experience and stature of these players, the attributes that they possess, and the impact the loss of those attributes might mean. Rather than: Name: Take that argument for granted.
I mean it's not exactly times cryptic crossword level.
What makes you think that? I do see that attitude. I think he has confidence and belief, and pushes himself to the front....and thank fuck for that in an era where the absence of leadership is noticeable.
Attributes: A modern Bryan Robson, but more lead by word, as well as lead by example.
I have a degree of discomfort with how he is represented in some quarters, and some of the things that his manager has said about him publicly. Particularly in an environment when we know that non-caucasian representatives of the national team attract disproportionate and disgusting vile abuse if there's any perceived excuse. Personally I wouldn't want to say the things Tuchel has said about him, anything but privately to him. I wouldn't want his teammates having an excuse to not follow him. I wouldn't want to give external forces a stick to beat him with, and risk undermining his confidence, drive, and effectiveness. Yes privately I would have torn him a new arsehole...but publicly? Never. So Tuchel is either an idiot, because he's dropped a bollock on a basic skill managing big players, or he's an idiot because he's dropped a bollock not recognising his best player, and is going to fuck him off. Of course it's possible it's just part of the normal Tuchell pick a fight in a phone box attitude to himself over everything else. We knew what we were getting when we appointed him. He's always been chippy*.
* Strange how infrequently we accuse the white dude of being this, and having a component of accountability.
I think the "best kicker" is probably Trent (he's not) and best box-to-box is Jude. Jude will start in the No 10 role behind Sir Deadlegs. Foden (actually the best generational talent) will be on the bench - I imagine Tommy T's first choice XI looks like Pickford, James, Guehi, Stones, O'Reilly(?), Rice, Anderson, Saka, Bellingham, Gordon, Deadlegs.
I wouldn't have Gordon (cheating cnut) anywhere near the fcukin team.
Interested to know who you think can see, and execute, such an incredible range of passing, so quickly. Mainly because I'd like to watch them.
