Lee Dixon on Comms said he had enjoyed watching Anderson boss the game last week for Newcastle against Leeds.

Have to assume he's said that as a bet or something, can't possibly be that out of touch.

Was talking about Dan Burn apparently.

Bollocks. It’s all over the socials. It was during a replay of a pass Eliot made to Kane after about 10mins. He even started the sentence with “Eliot Anderson…he looks like he’s played there forever…”

    This is the quote

‘I know it’s early but Elliot Anderson looks like he’s played there forever, I watched him for Newcastle against Leeds last week and he ran the show’

Nobody would ever describe a central defender as “running the show”, unless they were a Beckenbauer/Murillo type.

I really wanted to mock you for that comparison but while he's obviously not Der Kaiser level yet, it's not entirely unreasonable to compare Murillo's game.

Still, Michael Dawson in his prime. It was disappointingly fleeting, but I'll always believe that in other circumstances he could have been a generational player on the national and even world stage. He was a better passer than Murillo at the same age, and a different style but equally imperious defender. He and Stan are the two greatest Forest players I've ever seen who were so close to being world class but for different reasons never managed to achieve their full potential.

Long range I agree, but I don't recall him ever playing quick balls thorough the lines like Murillo does.

The Republic are getting soundly beaten by Armenia, they might have to lobby FIFA for a further expansion of the WC if they're to stand a chance of qualifying. Maybe 96? Even then I'd be worried about Andorra and Western Samoa beating them out.
