I really don't get the way we have to talk about women's football. There's a massive discrepancy between the teams, the level of professionalism, and the pools that they get to select from. The greatest achievement is the interest and coverage that is now being achieved, and the levels of grass roots interest that develops. I know, from football friends who coach in the under age groups, how the interest and future pool of players that will develop from that interest. Elite women's football is important and should be supported and encouraged. At the same time, the reality is that the level is currently poor. You don't have to beat many decent teams at the same level to be successful. To draw an equivalence to me doesn't do it any favours. Yes I want to see it covered and lauded. But at the same time we need to acknowledge that it has a long way to go. In ten years it will be a much better game.

Let's face it. The lionesses were crap tonight, have largely been crap all tournament, and are in a final. Crap is good enough at this current level.

    tl;dr
You're only allowed to enjoy the football I approve of.

Thierry Bonalair will always be a Forest favourite in this house.

I really liked him in the Bassett promotion season. He kept Des Lyttle out of the side and formed a great partnership with Steve Stone down the right.

He just wasn't cut out for the next level up - along with a fair few of them unfortunately. Wasn't it Ben Thornley who effectively retired him the season after in a horror show at the City Ground?

I thought that was Des Lyttle.

Des Lyttle man-marked peak Ryan Giggs into niggly ankle taps.

Spain Germany has been a much better standard game. I've been quite impressed by the Germans.

I'm finding a bit of a disconnect between what my eyes are seeing and what my radio is saying. The lioness manager wont be making changes, we are told, because the starting 11 are those that are drilled, and know their jobs. Which I suppose is fine if they are being drilled to run into the wrong places, and their job is to regularly misplace 15 yard passes. I can't really see it though.

Disappointing to not track the full back and let her cross unchallenged that close in.

Had something to eat out of sight of the match in the first half. Just seen the half time rerun. Quite a lot of not running into the right places there. Well drilled.

I'm watching this in Madrid and the commentator is fucking mental. She's allergic to silence. There's literally been constant talking for the entire game. Even the Spanish family I'm with are hating her.

The Spanish diving, gesturing and moaning is unbelievable. They're a good team but horrible competitors.

You feel that Parallelogram will not continue to whiff the ball when two yards from goal.
