He was excellent v Spain. It was a complete contrast from his performance (like many of the team) against Germany, where he looked miles off it, as if the long season had massively caught up with him.
Can only think being dropped inspired him (or just having a rest and coming on for the last half an hour meant he could go full tilt for a shorter period against tiring opposition).
Italy the stronger side here. Not necessarily the better one. They are still masters of putting the stick about, and whining if they get one back.

This is the first time I've really 'watched' McAtee and I'm a bit unconvinced. He does some really nice things, but his final decision making has been pretty poor. He also seems to lack some of the hunger and determination of MGW. I could see that he'll disappear in a games.
It's a shame Delap decided to go to the US. He'd have been first choice striker here, and could easily have got the golden boot.
I'm impressed with Germany's number 10. The ugly one with wonky eyes, SSC vibes. Nick Voldemort. CDAJFU. 12 goals last season, from 17 starts and 11 sub appearances for Stuttgart. 1 goal per 136 minutes.
