Much higher quality game. Wood subbed without scoring. Stamenic still adequate but can't see him in red. Bindon quite possibly the best player on the park. Reminds me of a quicker Michael Dawson.
Final word from me today on Stamenic. He's very tidy. You notice what he does well only when the other players try to do something similar and they aren't good enough.
If we were battling for survival or top end Champo, I reckon he'd do a good job. I certainly like him a lot more after giving him a closer watch.
That was pretty much the point at which we left the stadium. Was desperately hoping to see Gibbs-White but no dice.
Fucking Jordan Henderson. At 3-0 up and the game over, MGW could easily have come on for the last 15 minutes and played Rice's deeper role instead. Also why no Dominic Solanke? Kane loped around doing very little, getting in the way of midfielders but got his customary goal.
Going to Wembley is a fantastic overall experience but the game itself was fairly dull.
I think we need to come to terms with MGW not progressing his England career much under this manager. If he can’t get minutes with Palmer injured and Foden woefully out of form (and never having really done it when he was on form) then the competition is only getting tougher from here. Especially with Rogers impressing and Eze scoring.
I'm not convinced that MGW is a good fit with this pedestrian England team, especially when they're playing Pep-ball against sides like Lativia that defend deep and invite pressure. There's little pace in the England front line and few opportunities to play the Forest way. CHO would probably have been much more productive than Rashford last night, though.
We've been fortunate this season that there haven't been many games where the opposition have sat back and let us have the ball, so it's not what MGW or CHO are used to playing against and they certainly haven't shown that they can thrive in those games. (Fixtures have helped with that.)
Will be interesting to see whether Everton and Brentford try to disrupt us in that way and how we cope if they do.
