Just said on the radio that Morgan''s not in the squad for tonight's game
And also Chris Wood got a hat trick,
If he doesn't play any part in the next two games, then I reckon he can start against Brighton and ManU and he'll be fired up with a point to prove.
Tyler Bindon also scored for NZ.
Agreed. In a purely selfish way, I was hoping to see him play some part at Wembley on Monday. He'll surely get more chances if he carries on improving like he has over the past couple of seasons.
This does seem like poor man management from Tuchel. You're out. Ok you're in! No, you're out again. It's only fucking Albania, make the guy feel wanted ffs.
But arguably poorer man management to name him in the matchday squad at the expense of someone called up before him. Of course the correct answer would have been to call him up in the first place instead of Foden, who even when he’s been on form for City has stunk the place out for England.
Personally I’m hoping he’s on the bench on Monday and comes on with 15 minutes left to dig them out of a hole. Not too much mileage in the legs, and a big ‘fuck you’ to Tuchel.
Bindon looks the business. Proper quality. Stamenic did well. Looks like he's beefed up a bit. Chris Wood was Chris Wood.
But it's only Fiji.
Didn't realise Burton's goalie was a Kiwi.
Look, the manager of any team does what they think is right to get the best out of what they have available, and MGW has a skill set that might not be the new managers ideal for how he wants to play. Them's the breaks.
There is a slightly dumbed down narrative to what people want from a coach. I think we can agree that Southgate had a view of how we play, and in game management that many feel hampered success. I don't disagree. I am concerned that people think that by solving those bits, you inevitably make things better. you might, but you also might lose some of the good bits that got the squad together, and got them appearing in finals to highlight how they just came up short. If the lost bits mean that you get knocked out in quarters, or worse, then you don't get to see the uplift in the management of finals.
There are lots of moving parts to football management, particularly in the vagaries of tournament football, and you don't always get to change the bits that you don't like, but keep all the bits that you do.
It may be that german technik squares the circle of the most competitive league programme, and lots of games, running the players into the ground, to then play tempo tournament football in summer conditions that least suit it. It may not. Personally I shall be adding an asterisk to any success, because it's unsatisfactory to be led by foreign expertise, when the point about international football is ours against yours. Although I've no doubt the germans would absolutely love it. We'd never hear the last of it, and they will no doubt get the chance to enjoy "football coming home", again.
For me the whole exercise is more of the dumbing down of football as representing a community, in favour of cheering laundry, and counting numbers as a measure of success/happiness.
I shall continue to enjoy the running around kicking actions, but not what it's become.
Assuming Nuno will at least have a look at Bindon pre-season but, hopefully, we are wary of him getting stuck in the Omobamidele trap and not playing enough when he needs to be developing.
Probable European football does mean it's likely we'll have to use more players but him not being eligible for the List B squad is a complicating factor (do we keep Boly as a fourth choice & right sided alternative for Europe but make Bindon 4th choice in domestic games?)
Murillo unused sub for Brazil in the early hours of this morning, so we still wait for our first Brazilian international.
Apparently Chris Wood was booked in the game because after he was subbed off he spent some time signing autographs for kids in the crowd and engaging with the crowd is a bookable offence.
Anderson starts for the under-21s. Can apparently watch here from 8pm...
He's making a legitimate difference to interest in football here. And there were quite a lot of Forest shirts in the crowd.
I was spending the evening with a bunch of Fijian Indians who were only really interested in the NZ v Pakistan cricket match.
I know this has been done to death but I'd prefer Morgan to Jones in that role.
And CHO to Rashford...
