Had some drinks there after work a few weeks ago. Market Porter, Globe, Old Kings Head. All very enjoyable and full of mostly office type people than tourists. Maybe because it was a weekday? Dunno.
Maybe. I think that was probably the plan when we were expecting to be lower mid table PL. As we're now likely to finish near the top, and be in Europe, I think that they'll want a higher calibre of replacement than Carmo. Unless I'm under appreciative of his talents.
That's my take - like other Olympiacos loans, he's been signed for a future that hasn't transpired.
I believe if both Forest and Olympiacos are in the CL, we can't transfer players between the two clubs, so probably can't even make it permanent (although him being there already might enable that?)
Agreed - like a lot of signings preparing for a Championship promotion push (Bowler, O'Brien, Panzo etc). We've still got a lot of those under contract, although Omar Richards is the only one I could see threatening the current squad (replacing Toffolo).
We are being linked with a much higher calibre of player (Gyokeres the latest) given our position, but will the lure of one season of European football be enough?
I don't think our squad depth is there (as shown in the FA Cup) to compete on two fronts next season, so fear we'll have to spend big to even achieve a top-half finish, given the impact European nights will have.
Surely we should concentrate on winning the champions league? If our history teaches us anything, it's the league in the first season...then just win the european cup every year, to stay in europe.
When Carmo had his first season at Oly, he was seen as one of their very best players, so I thought he was expected to be a step-up, or at least an adequate replacement.
However, second season Carmo appears to have been less effective, so possibly not any more.
One of my football friend's, like Albania, will be playing against a Bellingham tomorrow night. In his case Jude and Jobe's dad. I'd rather play against England than west Midlands police (vets). Less chance of injury. My mate has glass ankles, so don't fancy him being available for next Thursday.
