I’m still struggling with this thread title

Nope. I'm responding to your dumbed down analysis, and alerting you to the fact that the point of players like Sangare, and how he "positively impacts our performance" has nothing to do with the sort of passes he makes.

It is entirely possible to have a very good game of football and never once pass or shoot the ball. Not likely I'll grant you. But at some point you'll come to the realisation the all of the players on a football pitch spend almost all of the time without the ball. Under those circumstances where they stand, and what they stop other peoples from doing, is of fundamental importance.

There is a reason that football professionals play these players that you think are useless. Sangare isn't that useless, but physically he's not consistently found the level. He's showed it in short spells, but not enough.

It would be jury still out for me, so we might not be that far apart. However one of us is suttoning.

Freuler didn't do anything with the ball, and didn't do enough standing in the right place stopping people doing things.

    Paging Reuters.

Not sure where that quote has come from but that isn't what he says on the video on YouTube.

There's some word changes (he says "except" not "apart") but after the bit where he says they're all fine, he goes on to say they should be available for the weekend and then says Zinchenko, obviously, because he's on loan from arsenal, isn't available.

They struggle to come up with thread titles as well. Reuters block.

It was a lift from the BBC's written live reporting of the press conf, so maybe it made him look like an idiot unfairly. When I say idiot, I of course mean "drongo"

I don't know. Sometimes I feel like you just can't trust the BBC any more. Their picture of ange on their website makes his head look like a hedgehog. Not sure I'm going to be able to unsee that.

At least in football the words around it aren't that important. You get to see where they stand and how they run around for yourself.

On that basis I can't help but have some trepidation. There will be a big change a commin'. As often it's quite likely the best could even be around the transition period, where the old blends with the new.

    I fancy a draw here.

On that - looking at the fixtures, I don't think they've got a week without a midweek game (excluding international breaks) until the week that starts 15th December. And the AFCON players will be away then.

So he's just not going to have the chance to radically change things quickly because he just won't have the time on the training ground.

Wonder whether he'll be tempted to "throw" Swansea, to get a full week with his main squad.

Which suggests that Dominguez is fit and available unless he just forgot about him being new n'all.

  • 11 Sep 2025, 8:21 p.m.

So with Jota off to Turkey are we keeping Taiwo and dropping Boly from the Prem squad? I would if Taiwo is healthy and can be utilised.

I suspect Ange will play the same team against Arsenal because I doubt he has had a chance to see what he can come up with. (This is of course Ola only has a dead leg), Which of course would mean Sangare plays even though Douglas Luiz seems like the natural replacement though. Again, I think our Ryan may indeed have an important role to play.

Now watch the fucker completely change the team and we win 4-0.

I'm unsure what's wrong with what he said?

  • 11 Sep 2025, 8:31 p.m.

Just the way he says "Everyone is fine apart from Aina. Yes everyone is fine." then in the very following sentence says "Zinchenko is not fine". It's contradictory. Though, as @Simon has now pointed out the quote was done poorly by the BBC and he didn't really say it like that.

  • 11 Sep 2025, 8:59 p.m.

Actual wording is better, but I just took it he added Zinc because of the loan restriction as an afterthought.

  • 11 Sep 2025, 9:17 p.m.

Can’t remember if the question was about availability or injuries but he clearly started answering the latter and then added Zinchenko for completeness.

  • 12 Sep 2025, 12:37 p.m.

Zinchenko being on loan from Arsenal precludes him from playing for his mother club so who are we going for to replace Ola? Savona and Neco or Neco and Bakwa.

Is it going to be 3- 5- 2? Or stick with the trusty 4-4-2.

Boy is tomorrow's game going to be interesting. Not necessarily for the right reasons. let's see how the Oz/Greek manages this connundrum.

If he has Matt Sels playing out from the back we are totally fucked though....

There's also Cunha and Abbot to consider. Cunha in particular played RB against Fiorentina and was pretty decent if unspectacular.
