Awesome. That was one hell of a stressful evening.

Now I can concentrate on being pissed off at Everton meaning we almost certainly need at least one more point.

Odds on it’s us v Leicester on the last day. Yates header. In accordance with the prophecy.

For balance, we went ahead in the 18th minute, and remained ahead all match.

Awoniyi much better down the middle for me. He hits the ball a lot better moving on to it centrally.

We should also spare a thought for those down the A46. Conceding five sees liecester drop into the bottom three after our win.

    It's a fairytale.

A stressful evening made worse by my phone telling me it was 4-4 at one point.

Had to go and take a break after that. Quite the dramatic game.

Anyway, standouts were Felipe (as usual), Brennan, Mangala and Danilo. Serge was busy and did lots of good things, but got himself out of position a bit more than I'd like. Navas had some good punches but his distribution was really poor. Lodi was a bit all over the shop, Moussa was solid but unspectacular, Yates did a decent enough job but clearly tired (still a vast improvement on Freuler). Joe did a good job at RB when he came on and Taiwo did everything we could ask for from a centre forward - his two goals, in particular the second, were excellently taken.

MOTM for me though was MGW. Aside the horrible giveaway for Soton's first goal, he was at his unplayable best. At times some of the first touch football we played was outstanding, and he was the architect of most of it. Against a Chelsea team with absolutely nothing to play for he might get given a bit of space to keep doing it.

MGW also looked more... involved defensively than he has done since the Man City game.

For me, that is our best side (except I’d maybe choose Henderson over Navas) and we got to see that there is some really quality there… but also a real difficulty maintaining any kind of solidity in our half. It wasn’t anything like a typical game though… a total ‘win or die’ fixture for Southampton, and not far off that for Forest. Nerves and errors were inevitable.. but we showed some real class. MGW, Danilo and BJ are wonderful young players and, damn them, they are giving me more hope than is healthy that we are going to get the points we need.

I just realised that we are now the top ranked team in the East Midlands. I don't know if we got there earlier this season?

My heart cannot take it! Fucking VAR!

That was way way harder than it could have been.

It’s not over yet as goal difference could stilll cunt us. MGW is both brilliant and profligate.

He gave away the second goal but his touch for Barry was brilliant.

Who is player of the season ? Serge? Barry? MGW.

Fester have Scouse and Geordie’s. Their only hope is the last game. Evergone really put the cat amongst the pigeons. Twats!

We need help from others abs absolutely need a point from three games.

    Aaarfh Brentford you cnuts.

Soton are down. Who has the conjones to survive?

    Chicago: Experiencing palpitations.
