Ornstein and Danny Taylor have put a piece on the Athletic saying Ange, so guess that's it.

Percy confirming it. And he generally has a direct line to Marinakis.

Sure, we spent c.£200m, but all of those were on long deals (one 4-year, I think, but mostly 5). Even if we assume that all are on 4 years, for PSR purposes that means we have spent c.£50m because of the way amortisation works.

Plus amortisation of previous years' purchases. Plus wages.

    Fucksake

Oh well. I usually disagree with EM’s managerial decisions, and he’s actually done rather well with them. So fingers crossed. The last time we chose a Spurs reject it worked out ok.

Odd one, though. When you need a manager to fix a problem, go get someone nothing like the last guy. But when you’re recruiting from a position of strength (which we are) it’s good to have some continuity to go with the fresh ideas.

Tricky, when are we going to get a Don't Like One Bit button?

Maybe we're appointing the Europa league final Ange?

If he's smart, he's surely not going to turn up here and put centre backs on the halfway line? What with that being a bit of a disaster at Spurs and everything.

Hopefully there's some evolution to his coaching, but look forward to the trophy next season.

Does this count as season one or is it full seasons?

We'll be winning league one with him in 27/28?

My brother goes to spurs a bit with my nephew so asked thoughts. In brief:

Most of the spurs team were injured last season so hard to judge (but that’s a bit of a concern if down to methods etc).

Not as one dimensional as it made out. Won the Europa league final with a low block.

    18 month contract suggests unlikely.

Anyway, Nuno was a hugely unpopular appointment and he was decent.

I've said before that I don't buy Spurs' injuries last season being just bad luck and that I felt playing in Ange's style twice a week took it's toll on their players. The only thing in our favour, I guess, is that our main squad is signficantly younger.

People will throw around Spurs finishing 17th but it was clear in the second half of the season that they'd given up on the league and were only focussing on the Europa league (they subbed both centre halves against us at half time, which doesn't happen in a game you are taking seriously). No-one mentions that they finished 5th the season before (no European football obviously helped there).

This feels like a big moment for Edu - though Marinakis will undoubtedly have an influence, which muddies the waters a bit.

Successful coach gone, new coach coming in who must be more in line with Edu's philosophy. If it goes well, he'll be celebrated, if not he might take the brunt of the criticism away from Postecoglou.
