There have been times where Yates hasn't looked good enough. Was that his application / development? The team surrounding him? The manager? (how many managers has he played under now?) I'd suggest that he had a clearer role but a less integral role under Cooper. I'd suggest that he has a different clearer role and a more integral role under Nuno (possibly because of injuries). I remember Donny used to be quite scathing about players and various posters would try and suggest that a) they could improve or b) look better in a different system / under a different manager. Clough used to say that McGovern was the 1st name on his teamsheet despite fans and pundits not understanding what he did. Clough's response was always that he let the others play. If Yates becomes Nuno's McGovern then we really are doing well.

I know Burnley, Leeds and maybe Millwall off the top of my head.

I would have got to leed. I have a memory of him in a west brom shirt, although probably wouldn't have remembered without prompting. Any talk of Millwall is definitely as a result of ingo pissing about on Wikipedia though.

I remember him playing for Milwall, Leeds, Fester, Burnley. Newcastle. Didn't realise he played for Wet Brom.

    Dunno about anyone else.

Anyway, Cooper was right about him and wrong about Shelvey./ 50% isn't bad.

    Chicago: Memory man.

So that's Forest, Newcastle, Fester, Burnley, West Brom, Leeds and Millwall.
    5 to go.
    2010 loan 7 apps 0 goals
    2010-11 loan 29/8
    11-12 loan 23/9
    12 loan 19/3
    15 loan 8/0

And no, I wouldn't have got any of them.

Anyway, back to the Fester game. They look like a Championship side. Soton looked better. Their defending is woeful which is hilarious. Need Ipswich, and Palace to get it together so they go down with Wolves and Soton.

They might survive but they are not particularly very good. We on the other hand look like a solid Premier League team and Morato is a fucking monster. As I said at the start of the season our Player of the year will be Milenkovic. He is a fucking psycho monster. Love him.

The question is can we keep it going and are we buying a striker in January? I bet we are... Let's hope we get it right.

    Chicago: Feeling comfortable.

Edit: MOM was The Dom. I thought he was excellent today.

One thing I don't think ever has been questioned about Yates is his application. Technique yes. But he's basically been a regular since, what, MON onwards?

Yet he did at Newcastle last season.

Clearly thinks Leicester fans are massive cunts too.

    +1 for Chris Wood.

I can’t stay off foxes talk. It’s brilliant, one wants a clear out of their fans too and another says the away end was the best they have seen.

It’s funny how miserable they are about absolutely everything.

We signed 22 players the summer after promotion, two years ago, and none started last night (2 came off the bench). To a degree, they’ve been moved on and upgraded but… blimey.

  • 26 Oct 2024, 8:09 a.m.

I looked it up in the week, so won’t play (I was wondering at the end of a career how a player like Wood will look back and which he’ll think of as his main club(s) - concluded probably us and Burnley). Lots of loans when he was at West Brom.

Interesting how many of them think there was a big shift at half time. They took their one good chance in the first half but we were superior from start to finish. It was only after the third goal that they really fell apart as they had to keep pushing forward and it left massive gaps that we could have exploited- if it hadn’t been us, they’d probably have gone into damage limitation at that point.

They kept us up though and have been a big part of what we've built.

Season 1 we had almost literally no players, so we had to do what we did. That core got us through the next year or two. Some were always short term, but players like Aurier, Henderson, Navas, Felipe, Niakhate, Lodi, Mangala, even Kouyate did a valuable job for the time they needed to and it's hard to say they were poor signings I think even though they are not here now. They were what we needed and what we could get at the time and Niakhate and Managala we even made money on.

There were other signings that year (not all summer but in the Jan window too) who are still contributing and could continue to be valuable in the future lile Boly, Williams, Awoniyi, Danilo and of course Wood.

There was a segment before the game on Sky where the mascots raced each other. Robin Hood won and was revealed to be Carragher inside the costume.

Neville said they'd asked Leicester if he could be in the fox costume but they wouldn't allow it.
