'Ambition' is often a hiding place, for those with no coherent plan.
I have an ambition to be something. I have to tell you that, because it is in no way obvious from what I am doing. You would never in a million years conclude that from how I go about things.
“People” don’t rile against words like passion. “They” argue that passion is necessary, but not sufficient, in a footballing sense (which is also true in many other professional and technical situations). Likewise an ambition has to be realistic, otherwise it is foolhardy.
Both concepts have their strengths and limitations. Be passionate about what you do but try not to get emotional. Make sure your ambitions are realistic otherwise you will be disappointed. I agree with tricky: make sure you have a plan.
Just got around to reading that. I don't want to have anything to do with a club that operates like that, irrespective of outcomes. Which I already knew anyway.
