Haven’t watched W&G or Dr Who yet.
Haven’t watched W&G or Dr Who yet.
I thought Gavin and Stacey started well, for five minutes. Then after feeling the UKs jaw collectively hit the floor on seeing who Smithy was marrying it then turned into what felt like hours of rather depressing, trying too hard, long slog viewing. But then the last ten minutes were good, predicable but there was very little else they could do without causing there to be hell up amongst fans.
I have yet to watch the Wallace and Gromit thing, I was not going to bother (not my thing) but I'm hearing talk of a canal boat chace and the boats being over taken by a walking dog, sounds amusing so I might have to watch that bit.
Although I’ve never lived further north than Southwell, I’ve always had a thing for the whole brass band / Alan Bennett / Victoria Wood / flat cap and whippet nostalgia trip, which Wallace and Gromit plays into.
Wallace and Gromit was excellent. Dr Who reverted to doing feelings again. Not worth your time.
They always do that shit with the Christmas episodes. I wish they wouldn't.
I've recently started re-watching the entire back catalogue (it's on iPlayer). Currently nearing the end of the Sensorites with William Hartnell. It's hard going in black and white with terrible acting and barely even any music.
Desperate to get out for some fresh air but nobody else seems bothered. Think I'm going to go for a solo walk along the beach and listen to the City game at 12:30.
We've been arguing about going for a walk for about a fucking hour now. Recon we've got another hour of going round and round. Before abandoning and just watching forest.
Currently at a national trust property an hour from home, attempting to reconcile "get your parents out of the house" and "you'd better be back by 230".
Despite offer of taking Little Miss Shady to a playground, she was a hard no, so I'm having a nice walk by myself. It's crazy warm for this time of year.
That's how I read that one first time around.
Last night we walked to the late Mob Boss Tony Acarda’s house. I mentioned that his youngest daughter was my client until she tragically took her own life last June. The house though in nearby River Forest (just a quick mile walk) is famous for mental Christmas lights. It had a Ferris wheel, a globe of the world and a camel in the garden. Pretty wild. Worth the walk.
Also a good 2 mile walk on a cold Christmas evening.

As for Xmas tv jn the U.k. I was always looking forward to the Only Fools and Horses specials. Always loved those…
Happy New Year. Doesn't appear to have been world-ending as yet.
Happy New Year @Mangetout and everyone else.. celebrating in Balham of all places, walking around London Town today it seems that 3/4 of the west end’s roads are shut down tonight, should make getting back to the hotel later interesting..
Going out for a curry, then back home and in bed by about 11 before being woken by fireworks and shouting "wankers!" out of the window. Happy New Year all.
Going day drinking with an expectation of being passed out in front of the TV by 9pm, woken up just after midnight by a drunk woman calling me to wish me HNY, then staggering to bed before getting up tomorrow morning to do the Polar Bear Dip (wherein a bunch of still drunk, very stupid Canadians jump into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario for reasons that I don't understand but I aim to find out), and then going out for another day of drinking to start the year off right.
In Maywood where we moved, the 4th of July fireworks basically felt like the siege of Sarajevo. The Latinos in this area just love to blow shit up. New Years is a little different because the other residents take to the streets to shoot their guns in the air with nary a care of where the bullets will land.
So it's not boring!!!!!
