After 30 years of bad management and inept performances on the field… this feels so much sweeter. (And yes I know its only a regular season game)

Yes that was pretty amazing and some terrible defending from the Bears as they should have rushed four so Daniels had no time. Having said that he shouldn't have even been in that position to throw if the Bears had defended the sidelines on the previous play. Serves the Bears right and I am not a fan of them so I applauded the Commanders flukey win. I actually laughed. Good for you lot. ironically the team with the best record against them are my hapless New York Giants. We might pull it off net weekend if we don't have too many injuries getting pummeled by the Steelers. Still it could be worse... I could be a Jets fan...

    Chicago: Loyal to the end.

I haven't seen much hockey at all this season but Sens results so far suggest a mixed bag but with a generally positive outlook bias.

Anyway, a comfortable 3-0 win with a goal each period v a Seattle side of similar standing. Which is nice.

We're looking a good piece better than we did under DJ. Lots of goals in this team, goaltending is massively improved but we've been unlucky with Ullmark, Forsberg and Sogard all picking up injuries at points, plus Pinto and Zub have both missed quite a bit of time. Still, we've been battering teams and we significantly outplayed the Rangers on Friday night but Shesterkin decided to show everyone why he's worth $12M a year.

    Sean likes this.

Brian Dabol the Giants coach keeps going for two point conversions for no apparent reason. Not one of them the team has got and for the life of me I don't understand it.

As a consequence the team lost again. Maybe it's a sly plan to go for the number one pick in the draft. The only problem is that the Panthers are worse than we are... (And yes I know they won today but that is only because the New Orleans Saints are wrecked...

Anyway, the turgid bowl is next week in Munich Germany. Those poor bastards.

    Chicago: Tactical genius.

Jets decided to use Super Bowl Sunday to leak the news that they're not bringing Rodgers back.

    Shambolic unserious franchise.

Yes, he did. With the added bonus of Serena Williams dancing.

Anyway, the call above was inconsequential as it turns out. MAGA Mahomes (and his odious family) couldn’t rely on the officials this time

I'm not a fan of American football but did read the BBC article about Kendrick Lamaar set, he performed 11 songs, just how long to they get for half time? That's got to be nearly an hour long set or is he cutting some the songs short?

It's got worse over the years. I'm sure it's longer now than it's ever been. Not that I know. I fell asleep. The superbowl is a fantastic demonstration that the branding and entertainment is actually more important than the sport. Which is what the sort of 'mericans who would be NFL franchise owners are bring to English (lol) football. I can't really blame people for preferring the entertainment over the sport. The games go on for inordinate amounts of time, and everyone misses their trains.

Shifts a lot of product though.

I read a good piece about American owners the other week (t'Athletic maybe?) - how attractive the prospect of taking a lowly football team through the leagues to the top is (eg Wrexham, Birmingham), but that they don't understand it can work in reverse, with relegation and, therefore, given the number of US-owners to taking over EPL clubs, there is a real fear there is set to be renewed (and much louder and possibly successful) calls to make the top flight a closed shop.

I might be able to get on board with that* if it keeps Leicester out and contributes to their ultimate demise as an entity.

*not really, obviously. I'd still like the second bit to happen though.

I don't think it'll happen. I mean, putting the absolute uproar among fans themselves, it's the potential of relegation which gives the PL some jeopardy and tension - which is what makes it so interesting and exciting.
