So how long am I allowed to be bad at my job for after someone dies before it’s a me problem? Is grief a valid reason for being bad at my job if a family member dies, or does it have to be a colleague? So many questions.

It's a bit disappointing the way that every attempt at understanding is weaponised as an attack vector.
Personally I think where they are standing, and where they are running, is more the problem. But grief can be an issue. As can negotiating a new contract, or having your dogs subject to an extermination order.
... And they haven't got shit, they've got fractionally worse than they were, in an industry where that can see a shift in outcomes.... Sometimes winning, sometimes losing. You don't want to understand things. That's fine. I'm not sure high fiving being dim while criticising thought is a great idea, given how aligned it is to, and promoted by, anti social popularist fascism.
It's okay to have a complex network of understanding around these things. They are good players. Some haven't settled yet. A number of factors are in play, and grief will play a part in that. The largest problem is that the manager has stopped them doing the things that previously made them uniquely difficult to play against - so now teams find that easier.
The happy thing to take forward is that it was an absolute piece of piss for us. Delightfully so. That will give us a happiness, and them an extra sadness, which yes does affect performance. Often described in terms of factors like 'confidence', or 'momentum'.
This is very amusing. (Liverpool's pass map from Saturday.)

Billy no mates up front there
I think there are two views there - what a terrible job £125M is doing of getting himself into positions to receive a pass, but also what a magnificent job our midfield did of forcing everything outside so they had no choice but to bang futile crosses in that they had no chance of winning against the best defensive pairing in the league.
If you watch the Sean Dyche Masterclass video behind the meme, one of his core principles is what he calls “defending the v”. Which is basically that.
