Obviously I'm negatively impacted by recent results but Adam Sommerton and Barney Ronay think this squad is far too good to be in a relegation battle but I'm not sure of that at all.

A number of players overperformed last season and seem to be overcorrecting this time (Sels and Wood are the most obvious). The injury to Aina hurts us massively because neither of the new full backs look up to the job - Zinchenko can't defend and Savona looks completely out of his depth so far.

The £120m of new signings left out yesterday are all skillful players (giving Kalimuendo a pass im not sure he deserves) but none seem to have the physicality for the Premier league.

Despite Anderson (who we are running into the ground, for which we'll surely pay the price) the midfield still has issues - Sangare can't put together a full game and Luiz can't play more than an hour or two games in a row.

Most of our best players are shocking finishers - Anderson, Morgan, even CHO has only got one since the Man City game at the start of March.

Think I'm talking myself into a Dyche, let's focus on the basics, approach for the rest of the season.

Agreed this is a huge problem. Wood masked the problem last season.

I'm with Simon. We spent a lot of money, but just because something is expensive doesn't make it good.

I've heard too good to go down before, it's the Forest way.

Oh and on Silva, is he worth paying a fortune for? Fulham aren't doing much better than us this year.

Discussion between Nedum Onuoha and Shay Given among others on 5 Live just now. I already wasn't sold on Mancini, but this has confirmed it. Sounds like the polar opposite of the person we need to get the squad and staff pulling together in the same direction.

I still think it’s far too early to judge the new signings, it’s been a farcical season so far, hardly the right environment to settle and thrive in.

A good manager will sort this, so let’s hope the appointment is the right one this time.

I guess unless there’s an announcement Monday, we’re probably looking at a caretaker for Porto (and maybe Bournemouth). Sensible for the new man to start the following Monday, when he’s got a week to get some ideas across.

What’s Stephen Reid doing? Gary Brazil?

Who's around to do a caretaker role? Warren Joyce? Andy Reid?

Please please let Andy Reid be caretaker, absolutely amazing at it, and be given the FT job then we win the Europa League under him.

A good demonstration of the lack of critical thinking and foresight that we've come to expect from both of you. Never want your heroes to become your manager, because there will come a time when they need to be sacked and you don't want to be calling for that.

According to Wikipedia, Owen Coyle is a coach in our academy. If it’s that one, he, at least, has experience of managing in the premier league. And about the same time as Roberto Mancini and involved in a relegation battle.
