I think that worked. The category thing is a bit of a bollock though.
All it needs is a fuckwitted dipshit (ahem) to select an incorrect category when posting and the whole thing becomes a nonsense and rendered rather pointless.

Does it matter?
It might be useful, if people choose to make meaningful categorisations (or if I choose to move them, for example to sort support queries).
Alternatively the thread view just works.

This is a beta test board. I am looking for feedback on whether the balance of opinion is that this is considered a suitable future vehicle. I, personally, think this offers more of what I want going forward than the other options I've looked at. And there ain't much I haven't looked at.
If most people are happy with this, and can actually authenticate themselves, if they want to, then I shall work on a transition.
One of the advantages of decoupled authentication is that I can maintain this as a beta board, work on a separate board with all the old posts, and just point everyone to the new board with the archived posts without any new registration requirement.
This is talkcab, not talkback, for a reason. This is not an active board. It's a test board.
