Poor game for Turner, very poor. Should have done better with the goal, should have done better coming for the ball. Should not have fucked up twice with the ball at his feet.
Really very disappointed with only a point. Is Yates injured?
Has Toffolo ever had a bad game? That was a great cross.

He'd always back himself with the ball out wide.

I think he was unsettled by the way the ball was coming off the wet turf and went downhill from there.

That was a point gained in the end. Lots of guts on show and thanks to the backs to the wall performance, the atmosphere was back to its best. Good games from Dominguez, Sangare and Murillo (after a poor start). Great cross from Toffolo. We missed the unpredictability of MGW in the first half and he made a great goal saving tackle near the end. And having seen the highlights, they should have had a pen when Turner lost the ball and kicked Wissa. Maybe red card too?

It was a stonewaller (and a decent shout for a red). Never understand why those aren't given as it's a clear foul anywhere else on the pitch.

I don't know if Wissa does him a favour by trying to get up first to score. If he stayed down, I wonder if he gets the decision. It was like the one Brennan won at home to Southampton last season but more blatant. Turner was very lucky.

Just worked out that Murillo looks like Ben Bailey-Smith.

He was very poor at the start of last season, did not look ready for the Premier League, but since October time last season, he has been good, never let us down when called upon (positioning still a bit questionable today, but that was the lack of an extra midfielder due to the red card).
Kouyate on the other end, I thought was excellent up until his World Cup injury and has looked a shadow of that player since - so far off the pace.
Midfield three excellent today - throw in Yates, Danilo and MGW to that mix and there's some quality in there.
I like CHO, carries the ball well, but I'm not sure what an Elanga does apart from gift possession to the other team.
Murillo (or Murrillo as the back of his shirt said) grew into the game. Some excellent tackles and interceptions, but equally looked slow and clumsy in possession.

Suggest you re-watch the Arsenal and Chelsea away games for the answer to this one, but it involves moving fast over grass, making top end premier league full backs look slow and foolish and doing stuff to get the ball in the goal.

Agree about Elanga. Impact sub for me at the moment.

He didn't have his greatest day today, but I've been generally happy with the threat that he carries, and I have no problem with him in the side. He's going to be more potent/important in games where we don't have a lot of the ball. Brentford set up expecting us to have a fair amount, and to deny space to run into. So it wasn't an ideal game for him.

Agreed. I thought he did nothing when he came on apart from give the ball away. Seemed to constantly be on the wrong side of his man defensively or be wasteful in possession.

Presume Yates was unavailable today? I missed all the build-up earlier as we were out.

I thought Murrilo looked like he could be quite a player. He looks fast, like he has very precise feet and timing, big shoulders, good natural positioning and he played at least one very inventive ball. Not bad for a 20 year old making his debut.

Agree with everything about Turner, Elanga and Kouyate. Think we missed Brennan today.

I pretty much thought we'd seen the last of him except as cover.
I thought we'd win, but am not overly disappointed. I'm still sticking with "compared to this time last year"
