The general tone seems to be everybody cheats so it's ok to cheat rather than let's try and stop everyone cheating.

Powers that be have said that VAR doesn’t have the power to ‘intervene on restarts’ and so couldn’t have done anything about the free kick even if it wanted to.
TBH that’s fair enough. I don’t want them to be creating more bullshit by delaying everything to check if someone moved the ball. Everyone on-field should be more that capable of doing that.

I liked the olden days where they just put your name in a book. It felt more petty and officious. There's far too much equipment for referees, headsets and telly's and whatnot, it's like the game is all about them. The way things are going they will have lightsabre's and jet packs soon.
