The point is that Ivan Toney is a very good footballer. He's no Kevin Muscat. But he is no less susceptible to the messages that society sends us, than any of us are. As we are going through a patch of ably demonstrating.

He is not that good. He's a jumped up lower league battering ram and he has got better as a result of not playing for 7 months and thanks to Brentford's marketing department (they know this which is why they are trying to sell him). Get ready for his star to wane. Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi will have had better careers by the time all is said and done.

I would have Ivan Toney on my team. I may not like him as a person but he is a good footballer. Since when did we have to like footballers to enjoy the game. I worked at the Hilton hotel at the East Midlands hotel and met many a footballer. They were mostly awful people (or at least presented that way),,, The managers were even worse, mostly drunk most of the time.
I did enjoy the company of Gareth Southgate and Iain Dowie who both became managers. The worst person I ever met was Carlton Palmer and he ended up playing for Forest. Did we comment on his character then? (Actually some of us did), not many of us would.
We were the better team yesterday and if Mangala had managed to score one of his chances we would have won that game.
We didn’t. It’s a theme.
